Hi, I am looking to buy the RR46C02 rims. I have current wheels with DT 240 road disc hubs. Could you tell me the spike lengths required for 28 hole? Are you able to sell the spokes with the rims?

LightBicycle 2019/06/20

Hi Dan, It's ok to order RR46C02 road cyclocross rims and spokes only rather than a full set of wheels. Here's a quote and spoke length for your ref. QUOTES --RIMS($ 159*2): RR46C02, 28mm wide, 46mm deep, UD, matte, 28H, hook version. --SPOKES & NIPPLES($2.8*56): Black Sapim CX-Ray, Straight pull SPOKE LENGTH for 28H wheelset is as below for your reference. --FRONT: 278mm(drive side), 277mn(non-drive side), hub features Black DT SWISS 240S 12 / 100mm Center lock 28H straight pull --REAR: 276mm (Drive side), 278mm(non-drive side), hub features: Black DT SWISS 240S 12 / 142mm Shimano Road 11S Center lock 28H straight pull Thanks, Lightbicycle

Thanks for the response. I just want to confirm that these rims are ok with 25mm tires. I currently run Conti 4000.

LightBicycle 2019/06/21

Hi Danny, Yes, the RR46C02 (21mm inner and 28mm outer width) wide road disc rim is compatible with your 25c tires. Our recommended tire width range is 23~43c. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Mike 2019/05/27

Hi, Will you be making a flyweight version of the RR46C02? One built using BlackTek & ExoTek? Thanks

LightBicycle 2019/05/28

Hi Mike, Currently, we only have two models in the Falcon Pro series road disc rims that apply with our new technologies. WR38 (32mm wide, 38mm deep) & WR50(32mm wide, 50mm deep) Attaching with the rim profile for your ref. You can also check them out at https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-road-bicycle-rims-32mm-wide-38mm-deep-symmetric-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-road-bicycle-rims-25mm-internal-32mm-external-wide-50mm-deep-symmetric-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html For RR46C02 road bike rims, they are not okay to manufactured in black Tek and Exo Tek right now. The molds are different. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Szilard 2019/02/28

Hello guys, I am planning on getting a carbon wheelset. I would be using them for fixed gear crits and in the velodrome. I am 82-85kgs. What would you recommend rim wise? I like these 46mm deep rims and was thinking to have 24 spokes at the front and 28 rear. Also do you have any track hubs you could build these rims with? Thanks for your answer! Best, Szilard

LightBicycle 2019/03/01

Hi Szilard, Yes, we have Novatec track hubs as attached. Is it what you are looking for? The price for wheelset with following specs is USD608.6/pair - Rims: RR46C02, 28mm wide/46mm deep, UD matte, front 24H/rear 28H, no brake surface(for disc) - Hubs: black Novatec track A565SBT/A566SBT, J-bend - Spokes: black sapim cx-ray bladed - Nipples: black aluminum Thanks, Lightbicycle

Could this rim be ordered in 32H? I'm a heavy rider and I think I would constantly be truing a 28H rear wheel

LightBicycle 2019/02/22

Hi Mike, Yes, you can order 32H RR46C02 road disc, we even offer 36H for people who need it. You can choose your specs by clicking the "Global" button below and start to configure your order. Let me know if you have any questions. I am here to help. If you prefer to place an order by mail, I can create the invoice for you if you tell me the exact specs you need. Hi, What color are the graphics on these rims (? Are they black or grey? If grey, is there an option to just have a black Light Bicycle logo near the valve stem opening, and nothing else. Thank you! Sean

LightBicycle 2019/02/22

Hi Sean, Yes, we do have the graphic in black, we sent to your email address. And yes, we can make only the value decal for you as you like. What specs do you like to have of the rim RR46C02? You can order online and mark the decal request on the message box, or I can create an invoice for you instead. Let me know how you would like to proceed. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Chip 2019/01/24

Ideally, I would like the u shaped with a 56 deep rear and 46 deep front. Both at least 28mm external width. Is this possible? I am a heavy rider (96kl) but ride about 6000 km a year.

LightBicycle 2019/01/24

Hi Chip, It is okay to order front RR46C02/rear RR56C02 wheelset. Please find attached rim profile. RR46C02: 28mm wide/46mm deep RR56C02: 30mm wide/56mm deep What hubs and spokes do you like for wheelset? Then we can quote accordingly for you. Is it front 12*100mm/rear 12*142mm road disc? 24H or 28H? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can these be drilled with smaller holes to suit internal spoke nipples?

LightBicycle 2018/12/20

Hi Joshua, Yes, we can make custom rims with internal nipples for you. The drilling hole diameter is 2.5mm. Then the nipples will be hidden inside the rim. Usually, we use 10mm long internal nipples. You can see the wheels built with internal nipples from the attachment. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Stinoo 2018/11/03

Hi, I'm still pondering over these rims. Is there any chance you will come out with a higher version of these? Somewhere in the 50-60mm range would be perfect. Thanks,

LightBicycle 2018/11/03

Hi Stinoo, Actually, we have this version rim in 56mm depth. Please check below information and below link. RR56C02 road disc rim: 30mm wide, 56mm depth https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicycle-rims-30mm-wide-56mm-deep-aero-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html Do you like rims only or wheelset? We have quite a few hubs option here for you if you like to build wheels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

S

Stinoo 2018/11/03

I'm running 25mm tires, the RR56C02 is getting to wide. Even the RR46C02 is already on the wide side. A 19mm inner x 27 outer would be ideal. I don't like the profile of your U rims as much, not as aero nor as lightweight.

LightBicycle 2018/11/05

Hi Stinoo, Or you can check our U shape RRU45C02 or RRU55C02 road tubeless rim profile as attached. They are 27mm at the widest area. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Rasmus 2018/09/06

How could this rim possibly be lighter than the lower and narrower 45mm U-shaped 25mm wide clincher rim?

LightBicycle 2018/09/07

Hi Rasmus, Yes, RRU45C02 road rim is much wider at the lower bottom of the rim. So, it results in slightly heavier rim weight. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Henrik 2018/08/28

Hi Regarding the recommended tire pressure for the hookless version of 40 PSI, is the the limit of the rim "walls" or is it to mitigate that the tire not pop off the rim ?? Kind regards Henrik

LightBicycle 2018/08/30

Hi Henrik, The tire pressure limit is also affected by the tire size. Sometimes, the tire is too wide or too small. It will make it easier to pop off. If it is hook version, it is safe to use high tire pressure like max 130PSI. If you like hookless version, please let us know your tire width. Then we can check accordingly for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

H

Henrik 2018/09/25

Hi What is the recommended spoke count for this rim (front and rear) and the 36 mm deep rim for a rider of app. 70 kilo. Both rim in a hookless version and for disc. The rims will be used in a combination of gravel and CX. Kind regards Henrik

LightBicycle 2018/09/26

Hi, Henrik For disc road rims, the most popular spoke count for a light rider is front and rear both 24H. For a heavy rider, we would usually recommend 28H/28H or even 32H to make sure the rims are strong enough. Some people would go mixed spoke counts like front 24H and rear 28H. Since you are not a heavy rider, so I would recommend 24H for you. Please note that we recommend riding under 40psi for the hookless version rim. If you are running higher, it would be better for you to choose the hook version rim. We will discuss further details with you by mail. Seems like you are wondering about getting a pair of RR46C02 (28mm wide, 46mm deep) and one RR36C02 (28mm wide, 36mm deep) rim, right? You can make the purchase directly online. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. Thanks Lightbicycle

79kg rider Is 20H Front and 24H rear okay? Do you plan to offer your new textured brake tracks with these rims?

LightBicycle 2018/08/17

Hi sir, And, yes, it is oka to manufacture fron 20H/rear 24H for rims. And we will launch a new braking surface with CNC grooves + graphene on early Sep 2018 for online shop. If you are ready to order now, we can work on invoice accordingly for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

stinoo 2018/09/17

Hi, looking with intrest to the updated braketrack version. When will this the orderable?

LightBicycle 2018/09/18

Hi, Stinoo In fact, our new brake track is orderable today. It's the default setup for all of our rim brake road rims (starting from today). You can simply order online by choosing the disc version and the brake track would be the new brake track. Contact us by mail if you have further question. Kind reminder for you, the rims would be ship from China warehouse. If you are from North American and want the rims shipped from the North American warehouse. You should choose the warehouse tab first and build your rims/wheels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Is WR46C02 (https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-V-shape-46mm-depth-hand-built-carbon-road-disc-wheels---28mm-wide-and-tubeless-compatible.html) the wheelset version of this rim?

LightBicycle 2018/07/02

Dear Noel, Yes, WR46C02 is the road wheelset version of rim RR46C02. The "W" stands for the wheelset. What specs do you want? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Christian 2018/05/04

Hi, do you have any 46mm asymmetric rim? Classic rim are not the best for disc wheels. Thanks, C.

LightBicycle 2018/05/05

Dear Christian, Sorry, we don't have asymmetric road rims. We only provide MTB rim with symmetric rim profile. Road riding won't be as aggressive as off-road rides, the rocky, jumps, etc. So asymmetric rim profile might not the necessary/most-wanted feature for road rims. People care more about the weight and aerodynamics. What kind of riding you usually do? If you like, you can tell me more about your riding condition so I can make further comment to help you with your rim choosing. Just a mail away. Thanks, Lightbicycle

LightBicycle 2018/03/01

G

George 2018/03/02

A non-disc Flyweight version would be interesting. If you could get these below 400g (and still strong), that would be one of the best rims in the market...

LightBicycle 2018/02/10

I am looking at the RR46CO2, with the 21mm internal clincher width, could you provide 700-25c Continental 4000S II tire width for clincher @ 95psi & 75 psi? My weight is 92kg. I am planning 28H-32H rims. I want to make shure the rim/tire combination will clear my bike. Will mounting tubeless 700-25c Schwalbe Pro One tubeless make a difference in tire width vs. Conti clincher? Also, are you planning for an a-symmetric version for rearwheel application?

LightBicycle 2017/10/28

Hi Kees, We recommend our RR46C02 rim to run 28c~40c tire. If you want to use 25c tire, we suggest our RRU45C02 rim to you. We don't have Continental tire now, so we are sorry that we can't measure the tire width for you. If you are worrying about the fitness of your tire and your bike frame, we suggest you better ask about your bike frame supplier or tire supplier. There may be a difference for different brands' tire mounting on one rim. Or if you can send us a link of your bike frame? Then we will help to check. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Are you planning to make a deeper version (55-65mm) of this wide wheel? If so, when? Also, what cost for these rims, Novatec D411/412 hubs, and either CN 424, Pillar 1420, or CX-Ray spokes in 24/24 2:1 lacing? Thank you.

LightBicycle 2017/08/30

Hi David, Thanks for your inquiry! For deeper rims, do you use them for gravel riding? What tire width will you use? Currently, we only have 25mm wide 55mm or 65mm deep rims. Are they too narrow for you? For 2:1 lacing, is it just 2:1 lacing for rear wheel? Or 2:1 lacing for both front & rear wheels? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi guys, I'm looking to replace the rims on a Roval CL60 wheelset with some of your new 28mm wide non-disc hooked tubeless rims. The hubs are 16h front and 21h rear laced 2:1. Is it possible to order a custom rim in 21h either centre drilled or 2:1 offset drilled? External nipples and gloss UD finished preferred. Thanks, Tom

LightBicycle 2017/07/31

Hi Tom, Thanks for your inquiry! It is okay to manufacture 21H rim with 2:1 spoke pattern drilling in the centered line as attached picture. Do you want spoke holes drilled evenly or not(please find attached pictures for your reference)? And which spoke drilling method do you like(please find attached pictures for your reference)? You can use rim tape, sealant and tubeless tire. Then the rims will ride tubeless perfectly. Please check our quotation as below. RR46C02 rim: clincher, hooked, 28mm wide/46mm deep, UD glossy, front 16H/rear 21H (2:1 drilling), external nipples, with brake surface, USD188 each Thanks, Lightbicycle

Are you planning on offering any 31-32mm wide rims similar to the new Enve 4.5 AR Disc (optimized for 28mm tires)?

LightBicycle 2017/07/29

Hi Andrew, Sorry for the late reply. We were out for travel last two days. Yes, we are going to make wider rims for gravel bikes. What rim depth do you prefer? We are thinking about 28mm deep, we will not make deeper rims for new grave rims. What do you think? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Todd 2017/06/21

What is the internal width of the hookless rims?

LightBicycle 2017/06/22

Hi Todd, Thanks for your inquiry! The internal width of RR46C02 hookless rim is 22.5mm. Please find attached rims tech drawing for your reference. The max tire pressure for hookless version is 80 psi and it is 160psi for hook version. If you are planning to run a tire pressure above 80psi, you have to go to hook version. How much tire pressure will you ride? Then we can check whether hookless is okay for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

C

Clarance 2017/07/27

Hello, Can you clarify the max tire pressure for the hookless version? In your reply you state 80psi but, the product literature states 40psi. Thanks.

LightBicycle 2017/07/30

Hello Clarance, Sorry for the late reply. We were out for travel last two days. For RR46C02, the tire pressure is as below. RR46C02, hook version: You can ride them more than 100psi RR46C02, hookless version: You can ride them less than 40psi For 80psi, it is the tire max pressure in lab testing. Actually, for really riding on the road, it is better to make the tire pressure less than 40PSI to prevent from tire blowing out. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, Could you do 50mm rear and 46mm front, with dt350 or dt240 hubs? And do prices include postage? Thank you

LightBicycle 2017/05/16

Hello Mark, Thanks for your inquiry. For 50mm depth rim, it is V-shape with 23mm width. For 46mm depth rim, it is V-shape with 28mm width. Recently, most of our customers choose the new 28mm wide 46mm depth rim or 25mm wide U shape rim. They are much wider and stronger. We can build the wheelset with different rims depth for front and rear. May I know what this wheelset used for? For normal road bike or disc bike? Also, what the tire width you use normally? What is your weight? Then we will do some recommendations and quote accordingly. Our wheelset price isn’t including postage. Thanks, Lightbicycle

If I want to run tubeless road tires, do I get hook or hookless?

LightBicycle 2017/05/15

Hi Jon, Both hook and hookless designs are tubeless compatible. For tubeless, you can use the tubeless rim tape, sealant and tubeless tire. Then the rims can ride tubeless perfectly. May I know what the tire pressure you run normally? The hookless version is designed with low pressure impact resistance in mind. If you are planning to run a tire pressure above 80psi, the hooked version would be a better choice. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Steven 2017/05/09

I am 72kh weight. How many spoke count do you recommend? I was thinking 24h but is it better to go 28h?

LightBicycle 2017/05/10

Hello Steven, Thanks for your inquiry. Normally, more spokes give the rim greater strength and rigidity. You are not a large rider, so the 24H rim is suitable for you also. The rims are for disc bike, right? If so, both versions work for you. For hookless design, it makes the rim with better impact strength. However, if you are planning to run a tire pressure above 80psi, the hooked version would be a better choice. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, on the same subject: would you recommend 28H rims for a 90 kg rider rather than 24H? I need disc brake rims. Thanks!

LightBicycle 2017/05/12

Hello Pete, Thanks for your inquiry. According to your info, we’d like to recommend the 28H rim. It is much stronger, and more spokes give the rim greater strength and rigidity. No brake tracks for disc brake, right? Thanks, Lightbicycle

LightBicycle 2017/03/27

Hello Christian, Thanks for your inquiry. Do you like 46mm disc wheels? If so, we can build it with 24H/24H DT 240S J-bend center lock disc hubs. The 46mm hookless wheelset price as required (with DT 240S disc hubs and Sapim cx-ray spokes) is $994/pair. If you like non-disc wheels, only 46mm hook version and 20H/24H DT 240S hubs are available. The wheelset price is $960/pair. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can you please confirm the maximum recommended spoke tension applicable to this rim design.

LightBicycle 2017/02/21

ello Ben, Thanks for your inquiry. The max spoke tension for 46mm rim is 180kgf. During building, please bring the spokes to an even tension, with a maximum tolerance 5% for all drive side and all non-drive side. During and after building, have the wheel stress relieved properly. Normally, it is better to use less than 135kfg while building wheels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

What is the minimum recommended tire width for the hooked version?

LightBicycle 2017/02/15

Hello Daniel, I double checked with the engineers, and the recommend tires are 23mm-40mm. It will be better if you go with 25C. I think it will be more compatible. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello Shane, Thanks for your contact. Are you interested in road disc rim? The 46mm depth rim is our new design and suitable for disc brake equipped road bikes, cyclocross bike wheels and gravel cycling. It is much wider and stronger. Would you like to have a try? Thanks, Lightbicycle
