Bring the World’s Lightest Hill Climbing Wheelset to Life

carbon-tubular-rim-180g.jpeg

Project goal: 30 backers0%

15 Days to go0 Backers

Given that customer feedback has always been such a valuable resource at Light Bicycle, we’re inviting our customers to weigh in on exciting new concepts, earlier in their development cycle. This helps us better utilize resources. If you feel that this is a strong concept, you can now become a Product Panel Member with a one-time pledge of $1-$50. Panel members will be able to offer their opinion on design as the concept is developed, and will also have the first opportunity to ride these new wheels.

When the backer number reaches 30, the project is activated and moves on to the next stage - layup schedule and mold design.

Once you’ve made your pledge, we will contact you via email and invite you to a Facebook group to share your thoughts and ideas with the engineers and other riders. If the campaign doesn’t reach its goal and move forward, we will refund the entire pledge amount.

Hill climbing specialists and enthusiasts - this new rim innovation is for you! We’re going to make the world’s lightest carbon climbing wheelset, UC25T (UC for ultra-climbing, and T for tubular).

Pairing the innovative 180g carbon rims with our iconic Flyweight carbon spokes and Extralite hubs, the complete wheelset build totals an impressive 718g (disc brake). If this product is exciting, show your support with a small pledge to make it happen. Let’s learn more about rim tech.

The world’s lightest climbing wheelset is only three steps away:

First to the Top!

Equip your climbing machine with the lightest tubular wheelset available. In designing this climbing-focused product, our goal is to create an ultra-low weight rim while maintaining a premium and responsive feel in terms of stiffness, liveliness, and comfort on all paved surfaces.

The rim features have been intentional and carefully chosen and the final design may evolve as we collect suggestions from riders.

180g=3×tennis balls

Are you a weight-obsessed rider when it comes to your components? The UC25T was made for you. With a rim weight of simply 180g, you’ll hardly be able to feel these wheels beneath you. You can now focus on your performance and know you’ve chosen the fastest wheels possible, saving you ~300g over our previous lightest climbing rims*.

Tubular racing engineering

This climbing rim is engineered for tubular tires to cater to those wanting a performance and race-oriented wheelset. The removal of the ridges and sidewalls makes it lighter than a comparable clincher rim. Tubular tires are also lighter and more durable than clinchers, with a light and agile ride feel.

25mm comfort depth

The UC25T rim falls in the popular 20-30mm rim height category for an ideal balance between crosswind control and comfort over long-distance endurance events. Additional depth options are in development.

Want a different depth or a clincher design? Back this project and talk with us now. We sincerely value your feedback.

I can’t wait for the possible tubulars to go to production! I own three sets of LB wheels, all clinchers, for my road, gravel, and mountain bikes. Service and communication exceeds all expectations! I will purchase more wheelsets, and hopefully the new tubulars!
