Due to the dynamic nature of the virus, small businesses like us are confronted with unprecedented challenges in getting our products delivered to your doorstep. First of all, we are very sorry for those who have not received packages in a timely manner. Please read through the blog to get yourself informed about the current shipping conditions.
If you don’t want to read a long-winded article, we also made a 6-min video that explains the difficulties we are faced with and the effort we have made in these months.
EMS Shipping Temporarily Unavailable
EMS air freight is not available at our Global warehouse for at least 2 months. Following governmental advice, EMS is playing its essential part in the delivery of medical supplies worldwide. Specifically, it has prioritized the much-needed medical products and personal protection equipment for air freight and is temporarily rejecting most non-essential shipments including our products.
We expected EMS to resume normal operations by now, however, it appears that the restrictions will continue for several months. We have updated the information about EMS shipping on our website.
For urgent packages, we would suggest DHL/UPS/TNT/FedEx Express service. The cost is higher than EMS, but it’s the fastest available method at this time.
Multimodal Transport Lane
US customers can choose a multimodal transport alternative where the goods travel by ocean container and get delivered locally by an express company. The cost is similar to EMS and the total transit time is typically 5 weeks. We hope to make this method of transport available for other countries, but for now, it is USA-only. This new shipping method requires no action from the customers as all the clearance work is well handled for you. Please contact us (email@example.com) for more information.
Coronavirus Adds a Hurdle for International Freight
The coronavirus has seriously disrupted the smooth flow of goods by air, sea, and land. The Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) warned in early May that air capacity is significantly insufficient. We are seeing a 95% reduction in passenger flights (used to carry a large number of small items) and a 25%~30% increase in e-commerce. The demand for cargo aircraft is massively increasing, resulting in heavy congestion at airports nationwide.
Tight restrictions on the movement of people and strict social distancing in the workplace further slow down the transport of goods. The flight crew has to conduct a 2-week self-quarantine when they arrive at the destination airport and another 2-week when they return. When the shipments finally arrive at the local warehouse, the reduced number of package delivery employees may also cause some delays.
Our team tries to keep up with the happenings worldwide that could affect the transit time, but things are changing quickly these days. We have been working overtime to help track the package information and inform the customers of any updates. Tired but happy, we are glad that we manage to deliver the rims/wheels to you despite all the difficulties. We really appreciate your support during this challenging time.
As the lockdown measures start to ease across Europe and elsewhere, we look forward to witnessing the gradual return to normal shipping conditions.
Stay safe and healthy!
