Hook is for road riders who value aerodynamic gains and mostly ride on smoother roads. If you plan to run high pressure, then a hooked/clincher rim is a safe bet.
Hookless is for those who are running wider tires, lower pressures, or are riding on rougher roads. You will benefit from a more comfortable ride due to the higher volume and increased impact protection. Gravel riders and cyclocross riders are often in this situation.
Both hook and hookless rims are built using the same dimensions and materials.

Center Channel Hole This is a required option.
With Access Holes: This is the traditional method. Spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel to allow the nipples to easily be fed through the rim. Tubeless tape is required to seal the rim.
No Access Holes: No spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel. Feeding the nipples through the rim is more challenging, but it allows for a tubeless setup without the need for tape. This kind of system is known as "road tubeless" and was made popular by Mavic. Some companies still refer to it as "UST style", however, UST is actually a specific interface between the tire and rim which was developed by a partnership between Mavic, Michelin, and Hutchinson.
Currently, rims with 'No Access Holes' do not work with our carbon spokes.

Drain Hole This is a required option.
The two small drain holes located 90° to the valve hole effectively help evacuate both the water trapped inside the rim and the air leaking into the rim chamber caused by nonperfect tubeless tape sealing handwork that may risk rim explosure in an aggressive tire inflating.
It is the small reinforced layer prelaminated on the area where the drain hole is drilled later that makes the rim strength fairly ensured without any compromise of weight added.
Riders who ride in wet areas are suggested to order rims with drain holes.

Decal This is a required option.
1. Light Bicycle Decal - The "Black" graphic is a glossy black non-removable decal for a subtle look. Avery vinyl logo-kits are available in 12 colours and are applied directly over the black decal. The vinyl kit is replaceable and easy to install.
2. Full Custom - This option offers custom Laser Engraving Graphics with the modern technology that is environmentally friendly. Our innovative carbon rim graphic etching is available in one colour (light grey) at started $5USD per rim, but on paintless finish only. If you select this option, LEAVE YOUR GRAPHIC ETCHING REQUEST IN QUOTES IN THE NOTES AT CHECKOUT. For example: "I need my personalized logo printed" or "Just text 'ABC racing' ". We will reach out to you once the order is placed to finalize the details.

Valve Stem This is a required option.
We use a lightweight black alloy anodized valves with an oversized concave collar for easy gripping. A rubber o-ring goes in between the rim and the collar to help seal the rim and match the contour of the rim profile. The valve core is removable so you can add sealant without removing your tire.

Add Tubeless Tape: A roll of 10-yard-long tape is provided separately as parts to do the favor for those who treasure the dirt in the hand and are passionate in DIY stuff.

Apply Tubeless Tape: In Light Bicycle, a proprietary taping aid works with our wheel builders to guarantee that a solid taping craft at industrial-level is well implemented in order for you to ride carefree tubeless at any conditions.
You do NOT have to use any tubeless tape to run tubeless if you have chosen "No Access Holes" on the rim center channel.
