Hello! I'm looking for some carbon wheels for my tandem bicycle. Hardtail MTB, 29", total weight 170KG, 2"-2.2" tire. Disc brake 6 bolt. We will ride gravel and non technical trail. Our tandem is a 2012 Fandango DC9. DT Swiss 540 hubs or equivalent, front--20mm thru axle, rear--9MM quick release Your recommendation for rim, spoke count, etc. Thank you! Brent Davis

LightBicycle 2020/01/26

Hi Brent, Thanks for your reaching out! For your tandem bicycle, we recommend below 29inch wheelset .And we make rims with 50g material added, then it will be strong enough for two riders. https://www.lightbicycle.com/Hand-built-All-Mountain-Cross-country-carbon-29er-MTB-wheelset-30mm-wide-tubeless-compatible.html Thanks, Lightbicycle

thinking about getting rims built in China, with the Chris King hubs. Shipped to the states. What kinds of extra duty/taxes/charges can I expect?

LightBicycle 2020/01/25

Hi Joel, Thanks for your reaching out!Yes, we can build wheelset with Chris King hubs. Which rims do you like for the wheelset? Do you like mountain bike wheels or road disc wheelset 700C? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, I am looking for single rear wheel for dirt jumper bicycle. 26" with disc ready internal gear hub, like alfine or nuvinci. 135mm standard bolt on rear axle. do you sell and how much? thanks you

LightBicycle 2020/01/23

Hi Kyle, Thanks for your reaching out!It is okay to order just rear 26" wheel. For hub option, we have Son 28 and shutter precision hub. Does it work for you? What is your tire width? Then we can check which 26er rim is better for this rear 26 inch mountain bike wheel. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Pawel 2020/01/21

Hi, which set -up of the rims would you recommend for road racing /rim brake system ? My areas are mostly flat i would say up to 90%. Thanks PK

LightBicycle 2020/01/22

Hi Pawel, I would recommend going with the R45 or the R55 700C rim brake. They're deep, aero and will work great with a 25c-28c tubeless set up. Here's the link to each rim page: R45: https://www.lightbicycle.com/45mm-deep-carbon-700C-25mm-wide-road-rim-clincher-U-shape-tubeless-compatible-with-basalt-braking-surface.html R55: https://www.lightbicycle.com/55mm-deep-carbon-700C-25mm-wide-road-rim-clincher-U-shape-tubeless-compatible-with-basalt-braking-surface.html Thanks, Lightbicycle

Cobie 2020/01/15

Hello - I'd like some advice on rim selection. I'm building a gravel bike and I'm planning to mainly run 40mm tubeless tires (which is the bike frame clearance maximum). I'm considering the AR36 or WR35. Given I won't be able to exceed the 40mm tire width, would it be best to choose the AR36 and save the weight over the WR35? I'm 155 lbs, I expect to run fairly low tire pressures, and I'm wondering if there's any reason not to go hookless. I guess the only disadvantage would be if I want to run road tires on the same rims at higher pressure? Also, what spoke count would you recommend? Finally, my fork takes a 15mm thru-axle - do you have the DT Swiss 180 in this configuration? I assume for the above build, I would need to order from the China/Global warehouse? Thanks!

LightBicycle 2020/01/15

Hi Cobie, If you use 25mm or 28mm wide tires, you can go for AR36(28mm wide/36mm deep). If you use wider tires, you can go for WR35-32mm wide gravel wheels. For DT Swiss 180 hubs, we only have front 12*100mm, we do not have 15*100mm size. We have DT Swiss 240S road disc hub with 15*100mm center lock. Does it work for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Adam 2020/01/03

Dear Madam/Sir, Is it possible to have a wheelset built with Shimano XTR hubs? If so will there be a charge for custom order? Many thanks, adam

LightBicycle 2020/01/04

Hi Adam, Just saw your comment on our website, yes, we do have XTR hubs available. What wheels are you interested in? mountain bike wheels or 700C road wheels? disc brake or rim brake? I can quote the all-in price and create the invoice for you if you like. I can't wait to hear back from you. Thanks, Lightbicycle
