Through our Ultra-Light Layup (ULL) technology, we’ve achieved remarkable weight reductions without compromising impact resistance. By utilizing custom resin formulations, a strategic blend of FAW (fiber areal weights), and precisely engineered ply orientations, Airia rims optimize strength-to-weight balance.
This innovation allows Airia rim to achieve an exceptionally low weight, exceeding conventional designs while maintaining structural integrity. Complete wheelset weights also redefine ultralight performance: Airia 32 with Extralite SPD 3+ hub reaches just 977g per pair, and the DT 240 EXP build remains impressively light at 1084g, while the carbon spoke build is engineered to provide a superb stiffness-to-weight ratio with a remarkable weight of 973g.
Enhanced Stiffness & Control
Mid-depth and aero wheels often struggle with lateral flex, compromising responsiveness and trueness. Through iterative layup refinements, our engineers have maximized lateral stiffness in the Airia series, maintaining radial trueness within 0.3mm—on par with our top-tier wheels. Rims are engineered to resist excessive sidewall deflection, a common weakness in many lightweight designs. This stability translates into sharper pedaling response, efficient power transfer, and unwavering sprint performance under high torque loads.
Additionally, increased sidewall stiffness reduces energy loss in cornering, improving handling precision and stability at high speeds. Airia 52 (25mm/31.5mm width, 52mm depth) is certified to withstand 85J (UCI standard 40J), which demonstrates exceptional real-world durability. The result is a wheelset that balances ultralight weight with uncompromising control, giving riders the confidence to push harder in every race scenario.
Aerodynamic Optimization for Modern Tires
The Airia series offers optimized aerodynamics for 28–30C tires, with rim widths designed to maintain the 105% rule (rim width ≥ 105% of tire width) for reduced drag. With two width options, and six depth choices, riders can fine-tune front and rear wheel pairings to balance speed, handling, and stability across varied race conditions.

This pairing prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency and momentum preservation. The shallower, wider front minimizes steering resistance and improves stability in crosswinds, ensuring confident handling at high speeds. The deeper rear enhances sustained speed by reducing turbulence, making it ideal for flat courses, time trials, and long solo efforts.

Various Layup Options
Construction of a carbon rim begins with layering carbon fiber sheets by hand. The various layups technology concept is simple: different weight versions with control over the carbon's thickness. For the Airia Series, we offer rims in several weight versions: Standard, Flyweight, and Pro Rider. The standard version is designed for most riders of various cycling disciplines. The flyweight layup is the perfect choice for weight weenies. And the pro rider is a special reinforced version for heavier riders and those with aggressive riding styles, with a 20g weight increase at the rear rim.
