The hub is the heart of your wheel and has a big job to carry out. As Light Bicycle celebrates our 14th anniversary, we are delighted to introduce the newest members of our hub product family—the Plus Series, including Gen3 Plus Speed-Hub (for carbon spokes) & Pace Plus Hub (for steel spokes). Built on the previous iteration, the Plus Series delivers the same performance DNA to road riding, while setting a new benchmark in every aspect. Skip to see the factsheet of Light Bicycle Hub Family.
The Value of Lightness
The Plus Series, our lightest hub lineup yet, weighs approximately 230g per pair (Shimano). But it’s not just about weight savings— it’s smart engineering. These hub sets represent the pinnacle of lightweight performance and material science in cycling components. Weight savings result from careful material pairing and innovative engineering, without compromising strength or resorting to impractical designs. Made from aerospace-grade 7075 aluminum, the Plus Series combines lightness and stiffness through highly optimized machining, spacing, geometry, and bearing arrangement.

Unique Surface Technologies
Born out of the desire to create the ultimate cycling components, the Plus Series features hard-anodized axles and a low-friction PVD coating on the ratchets. Combined with CNC machining, the hard anodizing on the axle produces a thicker layer with higher precision, enhancing wear resistance and improving axle fitment. The PVD low-friction coating applied to the ratchet parts creates a striking high-gloss finish, enhancing wear resistance and corrosion protection. The result is longer-lasting parts that maintain their visual appeal and functionality over time.
Precision to Each Single Detail
At Light Bicycle, every hub is precision-machined to perfection. High performance begins with bearings and alloys perfectly aligned across all axes. Our Plus Series hubs are available with TPI (CEMA) ceramic bearings to enhance durability and minimize rolling resistance. TPI bearings offer exceptional smoothness, making them ideal for racing. Meanwhile, our Plus Series's innovative wave spring design builds upon the success of our previous generation of hubs. The upgraded wave spring of the new Series further prevents sliding between the rolling elements, minimizing friction, wear, and vibrations. And the 2-in-1 end caps allow easy 15mm to 12mm thru-axle conversion.
Test-Proven Performance
At Light Bicycle, we believe that our hubs and components only fulfill our quality standards when they function perfectly even under the most extreme conditions – that is why we test as much as possible. The Plus Series hub's fatigue resistance is tested to withstand an impressive 100,000 cycles under a load of 125 N · m, underscoring its robustness and reliability.
One Technology, Two Options
The Plus Series features a reliable 36-tooth (upgradable to 45t) ratchet system. Carbon spokes are the choice for cyclists who want the lightest and stiffest wheels. Meanwhile, heavily loaded cyclists who ride in harsh environments should opt for steel spokes.
