I was looking for an aero-optimized and versatile wheelset.
In late 2018, I was recovering from a collision with a car and I needed a new bike as the old one was damaged in the accident. I decided to go the full custom route and wanted to build the bike from scratch by myself.
Frame, groupset, saddle, and pedals were a no-brainer, but I had to decide what wheelset to put on the bike. I was looking for an aero-optimized wheelset that would be extremely versatile to ride on flats, climbs, tackle windy conditions and provide support in wet conditions. I decided to opt for Light Bicycle R45 rims with Novatec hubs for the best aero to weight ratio.
Lighter, stiffer and faster than any wheels I've used before.
The wheels have been impressive since the unboxing. They came with tubeless tape and valves pre-installed, weight as quoted, and with a beautiful finish to the rims. Mounting tires was super quick and easy.
Riding and racing - how Light Bicycle made the difference.
Riding Light Bicycle wheels completely changed my riding experience. Out on the road, I could notice the difference in acceleration. They have been bombproof in dry, wet and windy conditions, and have helped me improve my race results significantly. 12,000 kilometers later, the wheels are still as true as they were on day one.
