As an avid racer of road, mountain, and gravel bikes for eight years, I’ve come to realize the importance of wheels. I’m ecstatic that I discovered Light Bicycle two years ago when I purchased my first wheelset. I’m now a proud owner of three Light Bicycle wheelsets.
Most recently, I purchased the new AR35 wheelset for my gravel bike, replacing high-end stock wheels, and glad I did. Just like with my other two purchases, Light Bicycle customer service worked with me to build the lightest and most aerodynamic gravel AR35 wheelset possible. They worked with me on choosing the best setup for what I wanted, keeping in mind weight, handling, and aerodynamics. I was surprised by how many options they had to choose from, including hubs and spokes. They went above and beyond to communicate with me and answer any questions I had.
I tested the wheels at my first official gravel race.
I’ve now raced and trained on my AR35's for approximately 4000 miles and couldn’t be happier. My bike feels fast and handles better than before!
I tested them at my first official gravel race this past May 28 at the Hemi 5-0 MadGravel Race. Not having raced gravel before, I wasn't sure how competitive I'd be. However, one thing was sure, and that was that I had all the confidence in the performance of my AR35's. After a mass start that began on a climb, I pushed ahead of my competition from the beginning and stayed strong the entire race. The race had a variety of terrain to test my wheels, including climbing, technical, loose gravel, single track, paved road, and fast descents. My AR35's exceeded my expectations the entire race and helped me to find the podium with a 4th place finish in the open women category with over 55 total women starters.
I look forward to purchasing more Light Bicycle wheelsets in the future. :)
