Bruce 2019/01/25

Can you tell me if it is possible to get the 650B AM740 rim with a 36 hole drilling pattern and how much it would cost. Thanks

LightBicycle 2019/01/25

Hi Bruce, Yes, We can make AM740 650B rim with 36 spoke holes, the price is USD164 each. Do you prefer to order the rims online or let me create the invoice for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Whats the difference between the AM740 and the EN740? I plan on building a plus wheelset for an aggressive all mountain hardtail and a rider weighing 200lbs. They will see some rocky terrain. Thanks.

LightBicycle 2019/01/14

Hi Stuart, The EN740 is the reinforced version of AM740, with some more carbon fiber material added. Considering your weight and riding style, I would recommend the EN740. You can also compare other MTB rims suing our online compare tool. https://www.lightbicycle.com/product-compare/Rim-strength-comparison-on-650B.html. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Im interested in these rims. I have Onyx hubs. If i spec out with one could i bye the spokes and nipples form you in the right length? Best regards. Anders

LightBicycle 2018/10/25

Hi Anders, Yes, you can get the spokes and nipples along with the 650B rims from us. I will create the invoice to you when you are ready to order since it's not available online currently. Do you have the spoke length calculated yet? Or do you need us to do the calculation? If so, would you kindly provide the dimensions of the hubs or the model? How many spokes are you planning on using? What would be the lacing pattern? Thanks, Lightbicycle

I am wanting these in the EN MODEL I am riding a Yeti SB5+ and ride mostly technical rocky trails. I am also 210lbs. 225 riding weight. Looking to put these on Industry 9 torch straight pull hubs. Will it work? The straight pull hubs use aluminum spikes for add stiffness.

LightBicycle 2017/11/06

Hi Shane, Our EN740 rim is strong enough for your weight. It's will work will with your i9 hubs. But you need get I9 special straight pull spokes to match the hubs. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I am looking to build a wheelset for my Mondraker E-Crafty E-bike. 160mm travel f+r, enduro/dh ready. I weigh 95kg. Would you recommend these rims, or something heavier duty?

LightBicycle 2017/10/08

Hi Mark, Sorry for the late reply. We were on National Day vacation from October 1st to 7th. We are just back to work today. We have built some carbon wheels with EN740 rims for E-bikes. These rims are strong enough for E-bike riding. EN740: EN version, 46mm outer/40mm inner, UD matte 32H 530g+/-15, USD289 each If you ride aggressively, we can add some more carbon fiber material also to make the rim weight around 50g added. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, as these are assymetricals, is the ERD valid for both sides?

LightBicycle 2017/07/30

Hi Richardo, Sorry for the late reply. We were out for travel last two days. For AM740 rims, it is only with asymmetrical profile, 2.8mm offset. We do not have symmetrical profile for this rim. If you like to get the spoke length, you have to fill in 2.8mm offset in the spoke length caculator. If you are not sure about how to get correct spoke length, you can let us know your hubs specs. We can help you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Robin 2017/05/05

Hi - are these rims available in 29" size?

LightBicycle 2017/05/05

Hello Robin, Thanks for your continued support. Currently, only 50mm outer/ 45mm inner 29er plus symmetric rim is available, not 29er 46mm width rim. Does that work for you? Rim profile attached for your reference. It works with 2.8" ~ 3.1" tires. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I trying to decide which rim to go with ---the AM740 or the EM740 I weigh between 175 and 180lbs depending on the season. My riding style is all mtb to endure What would you advise? Thx Tom Also why the Higher prices?

LightBicycle 2017/02/05

Hello Tom, Sorry for the late reply. We were on Chinese New Year vacation in the last 10 days and just get back to office today. According to your details, we’d like to recommend the AM740. It is strong enough for your riding. Our asymmetric line of rims is inventoried so we can ship quickly. Yes it is more expensive (inventory and our product improvements cost more), but it does offer a higher level of service. The crash replacement coverage is increased and time period is doubled. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Doug 2017/01/17

I want to build a set of plus wheels for my bucksaw... I ordered Hope Hubs (177/32H & 150X15), my question is will they work with asymmetrical rims(am740) and what spokes and nipples do i need? Thanks

LightBicycle 2017/01/19

Hello Doug, Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, our new AM740 46mm plus rim will work with your Hope fatsno hubs. Normally, we use DT competition race spokes with DT standard nipples or Sapim cx-ray spokes with Sapim polyax/secure lock nipples. You can have a try. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Robert 2017/01/18

Hi, I am interested to know if these rims are compatible with 2.6" tyres or will they be too wide. I am interested in purchasing the widest possible rims for my enduro bike. please let me know if these will be suitable

LightBicycle 2017/01/19

Hello Robert, Thanks for your inquiry. The recommend tires width for AM740 are 2.8’’ ~3.1’’. It will be best if you go with 2.8’’ tires which will be more suitable and comfortable. What do you think of this? Or you can try our 40mm outer/ 33.6mm inner 26er enduro rim for your bike. It works with 2.6’’ tires well. Thanks, Lightbicycle
