Peter 2023/01/25

Hi there, Just checking - it I were to order a set of these rims with the blank decal option, would they still have the decals shown in the sample images - either the grey or red ones? I'd like them without either, so want to be sure. Thanks!

LightBicycle 2023/01/25

Hi Peter, Do you like AM928 rims 29er all moutain without any decal? 32H or 28H? You can list your delivery address here. I can work on invoice accordingly for you. Or you can buy the rim directly from our website but choose " blank(no decal)". There is this option on website purchase. Don't worry. https://www.lightbicycle.com/EN928-asymmetric-rim-profile-carbon-29-inch-mountain-rims.html Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello Can you make the - RECON rim AM928/EN928 - in a Light version for XC racing? Is so what would estimated weight be? Thanks

LightBicycle 2021/11/13

Hi James, Yes, we can make a lighter version for AM928. The estimated weight would be 400g+/-15. However, I would like to learn more about your intended use before sending you the order. What tires are you plan to using? We only recommend the using the lighter version for the front wheel, and for light riders under 90kg only. Reducing the weight is also make the rim less strong. So I like to make sure your riding is a good fir for the lighter version rim. We do have rims 29er specifically designed for XC riding, what's the reason you want to use AM928 instead? Thanks, Lightbicycle

What is the difference between the EM928 and the AM928, there is a +$5 charge for the EN928? I don't see any information that gives the differences.

LightBicycle 2020/11/11

Hi Sir, My apologies, you might miss the information listed on the question mark "?". We will do some improvements so the feature can be more visible. In short, EN928 29er rim is a reinforced version of AM928, which requires more carbon fiber. Hence, the extra USD5. Thanks, Lightbicycle

David 2019/06/09

Hi, I'm considering building up an AM928 on a straight-pull non-boost rear DT 240s rear hub. Can you recommend spoke lengths? Thanks, David

LightBicycle 2019/06/10

Hi David, Could you be more specific about the wheelset specs? We would need a few things. 1. Are the hubs DT Swiss 240s, 15/100, 12/142mm, SRAM XD, center lock, straight pull, 28H? If not, pls advise the detailed specs. 2. What spokes are you going to build the wheel with? 3. Do you build on AM928 29er bike rims? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi Is this the same rim with modelname RM29C21?

LightBicycle 2018/01/19

Hello Anders, Thanks for your contact. The AM928 is the same as RM29C21. The new name AM928 is based on the rim inner width. Do you like to order the same RM29C21 rims or is there anything we can do for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, can you tell me by how much the spoke holes are offset from the centreline of the wheel? Thanks :-)

LightBicycle 2017/12/25

Hello Ben, Thanks for your continued support. The AM928 asymmetrical rim is offset by 2.6mm. Rim profile attached for your reference. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Charlie 2017/06/01

I'm interested in the AM928 as well as the RM29C14 rims for my MTB, I like the AM928s but can't figure out why they are so much more expensive. Is there something I should know that justify the exter $84 per rim?

LightBicycle 2017/06/02

Hello Charlie, Thanks for your inquiry. Please find the difference between RM29C14 and AM928 rims as below. -Both rims feature angled spoke holes, a modern u-shaped profile, have a bead lock and work with or without tubes. Both rims also have a low profile hookless bead with a large radius which helps reduce pinch flats. -Our 34mm asymmetrical rims will have more even spoke tension than our 38mm which results in a more durable wheel build. The low tension spokes will be at higher tension compared to a traditional rim which results in less wheel re-truing. -The 38mm are wider and deeper so the lateral and vertical stiffness are increased. Riders that prefer a more compliant ride would be happier on the 34mm rims. The 34mm rims with their new layup design have the best strength to weight ration in our lineup. -And it is 2 years warranty for asymmetrical rims/wheels. It is only 1-year warranty for symmetrical rims/wheels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Lasse 2017/05/08

Hi I damaged the rim on my sram roam 50 front wheel. I stead of buying a new front wheel I am considering rebuilding my wheels with carbon rims. the spoke count is 24 on the front and the back. Will the rims hold up to that? my wight is 90kg and i ride agressive xc on a hardtail. best regards Lasse

LightBicycle 2017/05/09

ello Lasse, Thanks for your inquiry. Normally, more spokes give the rim greater strength and rigidity. Most of our customers choose 28H or 32H rims which make wheels stronger. If you take XC riding only and go with AM928, it is okay to order the 24H rims also. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Justin 2017/03/23

Hi, I am looking for another set of your rims. Should I just use the asymmetric rim for my rear wheel and a standard non asymmetric rim for the front? eg EN928 for rear All Mountain RM29C07 Just trying to keep the cost down and the non asymmetric rims are cheaper. Thanks

LightBicycle 2017/03/24

Hello Justin, Thanks for your inquiry. It will be great if you get both front and rear with asymmetric rims. You will get more even spoke tension with the asymmetrical rim which makes for a more durable wheel build. For symmetric rim, the spoke tension is different on both drive and non-drive side. However, if you are on a budget, let’s go with front RM29C07/ rear EN928. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello- I have some Industry 9 Hubs and Spokes, could I fit those to the AM928 32H? Thanks

LightBicycle 2017/03/22

Hello Mike, Thanks for your inquiry. Our AM928 rims will work with Industry 9 hubs. For spokes, may I know your rim ERD? Then we will check if you can reuse your spokes. Normally, you need to get some new spokes, because the rim ERD is different, so the spoke length will be different. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Rean 2016/12/05

I am looking for 2 each AM928 at 415 grams/each. Do you have any in stock? How long will it take for shipment, costs for duty tax to California? Do you sell DT Swiss 240 boost hubs for front and rear? Thank you.

LightBicycle 2016/12/06

Hello Rean, Thanks for your inquiry. Below are the lightest AM928 rims we stocked for your reference. We cannot manufacture the rims at 415g. It is too light and not strong enough for all mountain riding. If you like lighter rims, you can go for RM29C19 rims. What do you think? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Mark 2016/09/17

Hi, Other than the dimensions, could you tell me the difference between these rims and the RM29C14 please? I see these are $85 more per rim. Thanks

Light-Bicycle 2016/09/18

Hello Mark, Sorry for the late reply. Because we were on vacation in last 3 days. Our asymmetric line of rims is inventoried so we can ship quickly. Yes it is more expensive (inventory and our product improvements cost more), but it does offer a higher level of service. The crash replacement coverage is increased and time period is doubled. With the addition of increased performance and durability etc. this could be a viable option for customers wanting something at this level. The hookless "lips" on the 38mm rim are 3.2mm wide vs. 3mm on the asymmetrical rim. Both are the same depth and are quite strong. Technically the 38mm yields a slightly higher impact resistance, but it's quite close. You will get more even spoke tension with the asymmetrical rim which makes for a more durable wheel build, so the 34mm has the advantage there. If you prefer a slightly more round and more natural tire profile with medium stiffness, go with the asymmetrical rims. If you prefer a wider more squared off profile with more volume, then go with the 38's. Thanks, Light-bicycle
