15th Anniversary Special

— Introducing the Limited-Edition Light Bicycle x Qvist Wheelsets

To celebrate 15 years of craftsmanship and innovation in carbon components, we have partnered with Germany’s precision hub maker, Qvist, to launch a collection of limited-edition anniversary wheelsets. This collaboration unites cutting-edge carbon technology and uncompromising European engineering — tailor-made for riders who demand the absolute best.

MADE IN GERMANY: SEAL OF QUALITY

For years, "Made in Germany" has been a timeless seal of quality and value. At the heart of these anniversary wheelsets lies the tradition of German precision engineering. Based in Dresden, Qvist has taken the cycling world by storm by pairing its innovative, ultra-fast hub engagement with deep-rooted Raketa expertise in boutique, ultra-precise CNC machining. Laced to Light Bicycle's proven carbon rims, the result is a collection of wheelsets that epitomize the gold standard of 'Made in Germany' quality.

LIGHT BICYCLE X QVIST: PERFECTION DEFINED BY DETAILS

"Being able to work with Qvist on these limited-edition wheelsets is really an honour for us at LIGHT BICYCLE. This co-branded project was born through the shared drive for pushing performance forward. We complement each other very well — combining Qvist's engineering know-how for bicycle hubs with our carbon rim expertise. While some chase extreme weight savings, Light Bicycle and Qvist both focus on structural integrity, durability, and intelligent mechanics."

The details on these anniversary wheelsets' hubs are truly a showcase of German precision engineering.

Anti-Notch Steel Core

Say goodbye to gouged freehubs. Engineered with high-tensile steel for both the freehub body and ratchet ring, Qvist hubs dramatically reduce cassette bite, ensuring seamless performance. Furthermore, steel’s ultimate edge is resistance to tooth wear. Under high-torque, repeated engagement, steel maintains its precise ratchet profile far longer than alloy—maximizing engagement precision and extending component life.

The Secret Ingredients

Instead of using smaller ratchet teeth to add more points of engagement (POEs) — which often compromises reliability — Qvist utilizes oversized ratchets paired with larger 17287 industrial sealed bearings, outsizing those found in most lightweight road and gravel hubsets. Six bearings in total (two front, four rear), all in 17287. This larger size increases the contact area and load capacity at each support point, delivering a smoother ride and far greater durability.

Every Single Detail Matters

For these special 15th-anniversary hubs, Qvist's team filled every millimeter with purpose. From the alignment grooves machined into the thru-axle for effortless mounting, to the innovative anti-rotation endcaps that secure firmly in place, and the angled flanges that minimize spoke stress — all these thoughtful engineering choices form the foundation of our well-balanced, stiff, and strong wheelsets.

Responsible Weight-Shaving

You won’t find aggressive hollowed-out flanges here to shave a few grams. Instead, durability is achieved through refined micro-engineering. Take the freehub body, for example: extensive 5-axis machining removes material strictly where it isn't structurally needed, resulting in a steel freehub that rivals the weight of an alloy equivalent. The payoff of these purposeful designs? A hub set that weighs an incredible 270g — outperforming even industry benchmarks. Light, remarkably robust, and built to last.

THE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY: A GRADIENT WORK OF ART

To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we wanted to create something different. While our current hubs mainly cater to all-road riding, we wanted this milestone edition to embrace the rugged strength gravel demands. That's why we partnered with Qvist for their expertise in hub durability, and together, we spent months discussing different colors and finishes. The turning point came at Eurobike, where the Qvist team brought four prototype samples for us. In the end, we chose a commemorative gold that blends an earthy gravel tone with a celebratory spirit. With its subtle gradient anodized finish, this hub is about honest teamwork and craftsmanship. And we believe you will feel that quality the moment you unbox the final wheelset.
