With a reputation for destroying equipment, I'm quite fussy in choosing new wheels.

I do quite a bit of self-supported overseas cycling trips so I want my equipment to be easily serviceable and reliable in case there are no nearby bike shops. Also, I have a reputation for destroying my equipment due to crashes, bad maintenance or sheer bad luck. Not really counting but I have broken frames, wheels, saddles, seat posts, cranks, pedals, handlebars, and helmets. Therefore I'm quite fussy and spend a great deal of time researching and choosing my cycling kits.

A local custom wheel builder recommended Light Bicycle to me.

When I was looking for a wheel upgrade for my new bike, a few choices appeared on my list. I knew clearly what I wanted - real quality value, rather than marketing 'noise' or big brands. Light Bicycle was recommended by a local custom wheel builder. As we know, wheel builders do not easily recommend brands, especially the ones they do not sell. I then spent a few more weeks researching online for reviews about LB, and I was surprised to find how positive all the comments were!

The communication with the sales team via email was very good, much better than some of the bigger companies that I have dealt with. The response was fast. They’re patient with your questions and honest with their recommendations. I do not think it can get any better than that. The ordering process was seamless and I could monitor the manufacturing process and delivery status which is also a value add and shows their confidence and transparency.

The finishing quality really surprised me!

This wheelset was probably my 3rd or 4th set of my China OEM wheels, but LB’s finishing quality was definitely the best. There's no point in talking about how true, how stiff, how comfortable or even how smooth it rolls. These are almost standard marketing 'noise'. But the fact that I ride it all the time in any terrain easily shows how good they are. Climbing like a tortoise at 5km/h, descending over 80km/h, riding on gravel, potholes, mud - all these have been done on these carbon wheels and they are still in perfect condition!
