Cycling has become my world over the past few years.
Cycling has become my world over the past few years. Weekends find me either hammering down suburban roads or tackling local mountain trails. I always come home drenched, sunburnt, and muddy, but with an unshakable smile.
My journey really kicked off after seeing a cyclist glide by, his movements so fluid, his bike swaying in perfect rhythm. Something clicked; I wanted that feeling. Soon, I was deep into training, learning everything from sprinting inclines to managing descents. Road rash and saddle sores became badges of honor, never touching my spirit.
My Venge and Turbos helped me conquer Gran Fondo Maryland's brutal 10,000ft elevation.
Through it all, my dream bike was always the 2020 Specialized Venge. It represented the speed and precision I craved, a true benchmark. Finally, getting that sleek machine was a milestone, but I knew I could push it further. That's when the Light Bicycle Turbo 65s entered the picture.
Slapping those carbon beauties on my Venge wasn't just an upgrade; it was like bolting on rocket boosters. On the flats, the bike now sings. It feels like it's effortlessly slicing through the air, and even in crosswinds, these 65mm-deep wheels hold their line with surprising, almost stubborn, stability. And for deep-dish wheels, they spin up on climbs with an efficiency that genuinely surprised me. Every watt I put in feels like it's translated directly into forward motion. Descending? Pure joy. They track flawlessly, and the disc braking is consistently reliable. Beyond the numbers, these Turbos simply make my Venge feel complete. Every ride is more exhilarating, more confident.
This setup truly shone during the Gran Fondo Maryland, a brutal 100-mile race with over 10,000 feet of elevation. There were moments on those inclines where my mind struggled to tell the difference between a hill and a vertical wall. Riders dropped around me under the scorching sun, but I kept pushing, fueled by the relentless efficiency of my Venge and its new Turbos. Crossing that finish line, exhausted but exhilarated, wasn't just the end of a race; it was the beginning of a new mindset. My mind and body fused into a single, unstoppable force, capable of pushing beyond what I thought were my limits.
Now, I share this passion by leading my school's cycling club. Teaching others to ride safely and efficiently, and watching them improve, brings back the same pure joy I felt when I first discovered cycling. Life will always have its climbs, but cycling, especially with my Venge and these incredible Light Bicycle wheels, has taught me that with persistence and dedication, I can conquer any of them.
