The rims showed what Light Bicycle is all about - clean and quality work.
These wheels were bought as a test as I have owned other Light Bicycle rims and wanted to give deeper rims a try. I was a little nervous at first because things here in Michigan can get a little windy and crosswinds are always a concern.
The rims arrived and upon opening the box they showed what Light Bicycle is all about - clean and quality work. The rims weighed a little lighter than the specs, and the reflective decal was such a nice touch. I took them to my local shop for wheel building, and everyone was very impressed with the quality - no issues with the spoke holes, no weird carbon bits falling out, nor holes misaligned or of different sizes.
My fear of crosswinds was gone with the confidence-inspiring wheels.
I was so excited to get the newly built wheels home. I threw on some tires and put them next to the bike just to get a visual of what they would look like. I installed the wheels and took them out for a 50-mile gravel ride the next day. I spent all night wondering if I got wheels that were too deep or that I should have gotten something else. However, my first ride on these WR45s was impressive: comfort was not an issue, and my fear of crosswinds was gone with the confidence-inspiring wheels.
People on the ride kept mentioning how great the wheels looked, and they would ask where I got them. Here where I live, Light Bicycle is not a common brand, no bike shop sells them, and finding folks riding their products is not as common as stock wheels on the bikes everyone buys. I explained to a few folks the process of ordering, who I worked with, the time frame to receive them, and so on.
I did my first gravel race on these wheels.
I have continued to ride these wheels without issues, even did my first gravel race on them. The WR45s have been able to handle all 235lbs of me without issues. I had them built with Sapim CX-Ray spokes which have been great, no issues either. I have been so impressed with these wheels that I decided to try something just taller than the WR45s.
These rims have been so amazing that I hope to continue to buy from Light Bicycle for all my future wheels and rims. Hats off on this one Light Bicycle, you hit this one out of the park, the perfect balance of depth, speed, and style.
