Peter : Couldn’t be happier with this Lightbicycle wheelset. Great quality, looks sharp, and rides well.

Daniel : I recently added the WR45 Wheels to my Cannondale SuperX - fantastic set of wheels and great value. I weigh almost 100kg and take this bike most places including some great MTB trails in Singapore - overall I highly recommend it! I am about to order a second pair so I can set it up for road rides.

Miguel : The wheels are built like a tank. They're light and stiff, but can take a great deal of beating. I'm sure I'll have them for a long time. :)

Wayne : Put a set of WR45s on my gravel bike and couldn't be happier. Built up with DT 350's for durability and have put a couple thousand miles on them. I did BWR NC with this setup and it flies down the road and is still tough enough for the rough stuff.

William : WR45 rims, matte UD finish with gloss black decals and no access holes, DT350 hubs, Pillar spokes. A great set of wheels. I run 32mm GP5000's tubeless and they mount up and hold air easily with no tape. Judging from how fast I go downhill they seem to be a pretty good aero combo.

Franz : I want to take the time to provide a comprehensive evaluation of my purchasing experience with Light Bicycle because they have consistently exceeded all expectations. Never before have I been so satisfied with an online purchase, the quality of advice I received, and the commitment of the LB team. Being accustomed to solo gravel rides in the Paris region, I found myself riding in a group in Thailand with people who clearly had the means to afford high-quality gear. This exposed me to a variety of incredibly appealing carbon wheels, sparking my interest in the subject. Soon enough, I heard about LB on forums and Reddit. Once I got hooked, everything happened rapidly. It ended up costing me a LOT more than just a pair of wheels... since I soon changed about almost everything on the bike. But I learned a ton. ;) On the website, I started asking questions about a wheel model that had caught my eye. Edwin responded to me and remained my main contact throughout the purchasing experience. Edwin explained that the wheels I had chosen might not be the most suitable for my bike, which can accommodate wheels with a width of 40+. Suddenly, the myriad of questions I had multiplied exponentially, but Edwin was extremely patient, always responding quickly to each and every one of them... And I literally bombarded him with questions! Once I had settled on the WR45 Flyweight wheels in Hexa-Comb Matte finish, with a DT 240 hub, I placed my order. I was getting a pair of carbon wheels with a 25mm rim width, customized down to the smallest detail, at a lower price than comparable options I had seen elsewhere, many of which aren't even manufactured by the companies selling them, and offer far less customization. So, I was already thrilled. The waiting period was made more bearable by the page that updates on the different stages of wheel construction. This is another clever feature on LB's already comprehensive and user-friendly website. Consequently, I found myself checking the site every morning, and each time the manufacturing progressed, I felt a spark of joy. Before the wheels were shipped, I received a series of hi-res photos that definitively confirmed that I was dealing with serious guys who are passionate about what they do. Overall, I believe it took about a month between placing the order and receiving the wheels, but I live in Thailand, so that may have influenced the delivery time. Speaking of delivery, it all went smoothly. The wheels arrived well-packaged, with no additional taxes to pay, and I felt like a kid on Christmas, eagerly opening the box to unveil the treasure inside. Not only are the wheels beautiful, but they have transformed my bike beyond my expectations. Well, I should mention that I ended up changing the handlebar, stem, saddle, etc... because what's the point of having ultralight wheels if the rest doesn't measure up ? The wheelset weighs 1443g, which is already 600g lighter than the wheels my bike, a 2019 Rose Backroad, originally had. Ultimately, the bike ended up shedding 1.5 kg. On the road, the wheels are firm in the best sense of the term and fast. Actually, I can feel their firmness, but when combined with supple tires (Panaracer GK SS), the overall ride feels much smoother, probably due to a larger tire contact patch thanks to the wider rims. In short, it's a whole new pleasure that translates into increased speed. Improved grip, enhanced lightness, and responsiveness - I've gained on all fronts. And I have a rather objective measure to support my observations since I mainly ride on a 23 km circuit here in Bangkok. Therefore, I know the time it takes me to complete a lap and my average speed. It's simple: with the new wheels, I've gained an extra 4 km/h per lap with the new wheels, and not just because I've been riding more frequently since I got them! In short, if you've read this far and are hesitating to take the plunge, go for it. You won't regret it. Just be aware that it's probably the beginning of an endless spiral, but the enjoyment you'll experience will ultimately be worth the cost, if not more. Well done to the entire LB team, and thank you again for running such a high-quality business. You guys are extraordinary! Nathan : I’ve put these wheels through two seasons of gravel riding now— absolutely love how smooth and consistent the ride is, even with how many potholes and generally rough conditions we have where I live, they have a very stable feel to them. 10/10, exactly what I was looking for with my build!

Cam 2023/08/13

Hi, I'm looking at the WR45 wheelset and considering normal rim vs flyweight. Would the flyweight option be suitable if used for bikepacking, with the extra overall weight of the system? Cheers Cam

LightBicycle 2023/08/14

Hi Cam, Thanks for reaching out! May I know the weight within bike-packing in total? I send you an email, please check it. Looking forward to your reply : ) Lightbicycle

Hi Light Bicycle, I was loooking at the Falcon Wheelset WR45 with DT Swiss 240 hubs. I was hoping to get 32 spoke count on the rear wheel and 28 for the front but this does not appear as a an option in the configuration. Could you please advise me if this configuration is available and please sent through a quote to my email address. Cheers Andrew

LightBicycle 2022/06/28

Hi Andrew, We could supply DT 240 EXP road disc font 24H rear 28H hubs for WR45 Gravel wheelset 700C . Is it okay for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm looking for a lightweight wheelset that could be used for gravel races which might also have a high percentage of tarmac, so a deeper wheel section is also preferred. My weight fluctuates between 70-73kg, and I would like to run a 45c tire. Would the WR45 disc set with a flyweight build be a good option for me, and if so, what would the recommended spoke count be?

LightBicycle 2022/06/06

Hi Thomas, Yes, WR45 road disc 700C would be a good option for you based on your description. The flyweight rim is recommended for riders under 90kg. So I think it should be no problem. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Do you have any of the Pilar spokes in rainbow color? If not, what color do you have?

LightBicycle 2020/11/13

Hi Sean, Yes, we do have colored spokes available, we will have to special purchase for you if you need it. Have you figured out the full wheelset configurations that you plan to have yet? If not, maybe I can help? But I will have to learn more about your needs and riding conditions. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Calum 2020/06/11

Hi, I’m checking out the 700c WR45 disc Wheelset options. With the flyweight rim and the carbon ti hub, is it possible to increase the spoke count to 28 or 32 spokes? Thanks

LightBicycle 2020/06/12

Hi Calum, Yes, we can get 28H or 32H spoke count Carbon-Ti hubs for you if you want. The reason why we only have 24H online is that most people after the super lightweight of Carbon Ti hubs, tend to get fewer spoke count to get the wheelset road disc lighter. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Jeff 2020/02/10

Considering the hooked vs hookless have the same internal width, which would recommend for a road bike? I don’t mind running tubeless tires, so that isn’t an issue. Would hookless rims and tubeless tires hold up in tight cornering crit races? I think the tire shapes out better on hookless rim, so I’m leaning that way.

LightBicycle 2020/02/11

Hi Jeff, If you are planning on running high pressure (more than 80psi, less than 130psi), you should go with the hook version to hold the tires on. If you will only run under 80psi, hookless would be ok for the condition. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Anton 2020/02/10

I'm interested in something with at least 45mm depth, 23-28 internal width, external isn't as important, whatever is strong. Also want 32 spoke holes per wheel, what do you have for me, please send an email. Thanks, Anton

LightBicycle 2020/02/10

Hi Anton, We have below road disc rims 700C close to your specs. Which do you prefer? WR45: width 25mm inner/32mm outer, 45mm deep WR50: width 25mm inner /32mm outer, 50mm deep. It is okay to order 32spoke count. Don't worry. Thanks, Lightbicycle
