Comments on Falcon Pro WHEELSET AR55 DISC Road/CX/Gravel

700C tubeless bike wheels 28mm wide 55mm deep clincher for cyclocross road and gravel bikes

Hello, I had a couple quick questions regarding your AR55/WR50, and AR565/AR465 wheel sets. First, are all of those variations available in matte braided UD finish? For the decals, is it possible to get only the triangle "LB" decal near the valve stem hole and not the additional graphics? Finally, can you recommend a wheel set between the combinations above (or other recommendation)? I'm leaning towards a staggered setup to be a little better suited to cross winds. I'm a 66kg rider and do a mix of flat riding and climbing. Thanks for all your help! John

Hello! Is the AR55 wheelset available with internal nipple holes? It looks like some of the pictures show internal nipple holes but I don't see that option in the customizer. Also, any experience/tips using rim hole plugs like Veloplugs on these rims? Thank you, William

LightBicycle 2023/04/03

Hi William, Yes, we can build the AR55 road disc wheelset 700C with internal nipples. Can you tell me the configurations you are interested in/? I will prepare and send the order to you via email. We only list the most popular options online to prevent slow loading. So always feel free to email me if you want anything special. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I'm looking in these wheels FALCON PRO WHEELSET AR55 DISC. I wanted to know a few things: 1) Is the finish more of a Matte Black? Or more like Glossy? 2) What's the best hub for a "all around" bike (mix of road and gravel? 3) What's the best hub for a full road bike? 4) What's the best hub for a gravel bike? 5) Can I choose the color of the decals? I also liked the AR565, but that one seems has a glossy finish, is that accurate? Thank you

LightBicycle 2022/10/08

Hi Tiago, Here're the answers to your questions, let me know if you have further questions. 1. Both matte and glossy finishes are made of paint, while AR55 and AR565 700C disc doesn't apply any paint. The finish is actually between glossy and matte. Different model pro rims would look slightly different because of the mold. The carbon fiber layer undisturbed to make the rim stronger, the pro lineup is actually more difficult to make. 2. DT 350 would be the most popular hubs for its durability and cost-friendly. But if lightweight is more important to you, Carbon-Ti and DT Swiss 240 exp would be a good alternative. What's your preferred budget range? 3. The laser decals doesn't offer colors. But we do have sticker type of decals if you want. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, I was wondering, for the AR55 Disc, Falcon Pro, how much lighter the hookless version is than the hooked version(Flyweight version). Thank you and kind regards Jacob Quintyn.

LightBicycle 2022/05/25

Hi Jacob, For hookless, it is around 10g lighter than hook version. But the handmade carbon bike rim weight tolerance is +/-15g. So, mostly hook and hookless rims weight come out at almost the same weight. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi I am looking to purchase a wheelset in the very near future, but just hoping to check about the flyweight option and the sapim sprint / cx ray rear lacing . I am looking at the Pro AR55. I am a lightweight 65kg rider, and this would be a race wheelset only (road racing). I am a Div 1 racer, so they would be ridden fairly hard (compared to my weight at least...). I'm hoping I might be able to introduce light bicycle wheelsets to my team mates! (And hopefully a group buy one day) Would the flyweight be fine in this instance? I'm guessing with my weight well inside spec and this being a race set only it would be OK Does the combined cx lacing provide much me stiffness for a lighter rider? Or is this really only beneficial for the larger more powerful riders? Thank you Rhys

LightBicycle 2021/12/16

Hi Rhys, If you are looking for higher stability of the road disc wheel, sprint spokes would be great! The increased stiffness and strength of the wheel will empower the transition efficiency. But for road racing, I would say CX-Ray spokes would be more suitable. Especially a deep rim like AR55-28mm wide. On the other hand, flyweight rims road 700C would be ok since you are a light rider. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, I was wondering if you are planing maybe in some future to include Extralite hubs in your lineup? Also, I stumble across the Winspace hyper wheels and noticed that they are using carbon spokes and since they are sometimes compared to your sets I was wondering if you are planning maybe to include the option to use carbon spokes? PS: I'm using your ar56 wheels in my track bike and they are really great so I'm super curious about what you have to say in all of this. Best regarfs

LightBicycle 2021/01/08

Hi Jan, Actually, you can order Extralite wheels road disc from us without a problem. For carbon spokes, it requires a lot of time testing. We tested one pair of wheelset on road, but one spoke broke. So, we are still working on the carbon spokes improvement. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Stefan 2020/11/21

Hi there, I would like to know if there are any supply issues that would delay the shipment of a wheelset with Falcon Pro 55 rims and DT Swiss 240 hubs? What is the expected turn-around time to have a set of wheels delivered from the time of ordering? Also, for shipping to Canada - does the quoted cost include shipping and import tax? Thank you, Stefan

LightBicycle 2020/11/21

Hi Stefan, Do you mean the DT SWISS 240 classic hubs? They stopped producing the classic hubs for a few months now. The new 240 EXP hubs took its place. The EXP system is really a good upgrade according to our field test. Very smooth, and with nice engagement. The AR55 rims road disc are not in stock at the North America warehouse currently. But you can order it from the Global warehouse, the lead time is 2 weeks of production and 2-3 weeks of delivery to the US. Thanks, Lightbicycle
