Schmitty 2020/12/29

Do these rims require spoke washers for assembly?

LightBicycle 2020/12/30

Hi Sir, Our rims are predrilled professionally and rim spoke wall thickness is strong enough. No need to use nipple washers in wheel buildings at the standard procedure. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Jakob 2019/09/19

Hello, in 2017 I purchased a set of disc mtb wheels, WM29C06. I have since sold the bike, but still have the wheels. I would like to convert them for a CX bike with rim brakes. Are the rims capable of working? I am thinking the brake surface is the only thing in question. I am only 75KG and they will be used as pit wheels. Thank you, Jakob

LightBicycle 2019/09/20

Hi Jakob, So good to know that your WR29C06 still works well since 2017. The rim brake surface special material and resin system supposes to put on the rim before molding. You can not use a disc rims on a rim brake now. There is not special brake surface on these mtb bike wheels. So my suggestion is, buy a new set of wheels that made with rim brake. It would also take a lot of effort to convert a rim brake bike to a disc brake bike as well. So buying a new set would be the best option. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, how much are the 27mm 29er recon rims in flyweight version? I need a pair with 32h drilling for gravel/CX/fat road tyres. Highest psi I run is around 55psi. How much for 2 rims posted to the UK? What spoke tensions are recommended for these flyweight rims? Thanks, Tom.

LightBicycle 2019/06/27

Hi Tom, The flyweight version of 29er XC rim RM29C06 (27mm wide) is USD158 (UD, matte, 32H) each. For the flyweight version, our recommendation usage would be for the front wheel of a CX bike (or gravel bike). I would also have to point out that the rider weight limit of this particular rim is 90kg. If you are heavier than 90kg or riding a bit aggressive, the rim won't be a good choice. Normally, we recommend using the flyweight version for the front wheel and the standard version for the rear wheel. Riding with 55psi is totally ok for rim RM29C06 as our recommendation tire pressure is under 60psi. Max spoke tension is 135KGF. Please do not exceed 135kgf while wheel building. We also email you the spoke tension chat we normal use for your reference. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I am looking at the flyweight version of the RM29C06. I am 81Kg (180 lbs). I am a 60yo I ride mostly single track mountain trails in Utah. I am a strong rider on smooth single track. I do not do any rough rocky terrain , no drops, air etc. Could I go with the flyweight or standard?

LightBicycle 2019/04/16

Hi Tchell, Since you are not doing aggressive riding and not a heavy rider yourself, we recommend using the flyweight version on the front and the standard version on the back. Are you looking for building a complete 29er XC wheelset from us? or carbon fiber bike rims only? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi There, Are these available with no decal? Thanks!

LightBicycle 2018/07/10

Hi Luke, Yes, you can order plain rims only (without the decals). Do you want the standard version or the flyweight version? If you do not choose on decal color, the bike rims will be shipped without any graphic. Don't worry. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Ciao, I recently crashed my CZero carbon rims on my Scalpel Carbon. I'm considering to buy a pair of 29C06 Flyweight rims (to be re-build on existing hubs) . My weight approx 76-78 kg. Level of riding: XCO training/racing in all type of conditions. Does the 29C06 meet the requirements?

LightBicycle 2018/07/05

Hi Chris, Few questions for you before you place the order. Let me learn more about your riding condition to make the proper recommendation. 1. What is the tire width you use? The recommended tire width for RM29C06 is 2.0~2.2". 2. Are you an aggressive rider? You are not a big guy, so as long as you don't ride aggressively, The flyweight is ok. 3. Do you ride rocky terrain often? Then we can check whether flyweight version 29er mtb bike rim is strong enough for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello What are the spoke tensions for the 29C06 flyweight rims with dt swiss 240s straightpull hubs and with the dt swiss competion race spokes. Thanks

LightBicycle 2018/07/04

Hi Aaron, We use the following spoke tension range while building symmetrical MTB wheels, pls take it as reference Front hub: non-drive side 115~125kgf, Drive side 85~95kgf Rear hub: non-drive side 85~95kgf, Drive side 115~125kgf It’s better to make sure that the max spoke tension under 135kgf. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello ! The specified weight limit that includes? My weight is 90 kg. Consider buying a lightweight rim. For my weight, they fit? Or should I choose the standard version?

LightBicycle 2018/04/28

Hi sir, RM29C06 flyweight version is for light XC riding. Could you kindly tell me what kind of riding you do? Are you an aggressive rider? I need more info to tell whether the flyweight version is right for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Why is the RM2906 only rated at 40PSI? The hookless rims from several other manufacturers can run higher pressure and theirs is hookless. I only need 10more PSI. I would like to run these at 50 PSI with a 28mm tire for both some gravel roads and some tarmac. I only weigh 72.5kg. I would love to use your RM2906 because it is so light but the PSI is making me think about it. I see your gravel rim but would rather use this rim if I can.

LightBicycle 2018/02/13

Hi Roger, 40psi is the tire pressure we recommend to you that keep tire safely on the rim and make sure your rims at their best performance during riding. Normally, nobody would ride over 40psi during riding. 70psi is the tire pressure we used on lab when testing the rim mounted with an inflated tire. 70psi is the max tire pressure. We highly NOT recommend run with high pressure. Thanks, Lightbicycle

I am right on the edge of the weight limit for the flyweight. I know the tires are rated for "XC", but what testing methods are being used to determine weight limit. Would the flyweights hold up to "trail" riding at their max rated capacity?

LightBicycle 2018/02/07

Hi sir, What kind of riding style will you ride on RM29C06 rims? Do you ride aggressively? Normally, RM29C06 flyweight is for racing only. While normal training, it is better to use standard version for daily training. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can you make a hooked version of the RM29C06 Flyweight capable of higher psi? Would make an excellent light rim for fatter road tires.

LightBicycle 2017/10/14

Hi Kevin, Thanks for you inquiry! Currently, we do not have this rim in hook version. Do you ride road or road disc? May I know your tire width and your weight please? What about your usually tire pressure? Then we can check which is the suitable and lightest rim for you. We have RG922 hook(29mm outer/22mm inner). It should be okay for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

What is the recommended smallest tyre to use on these rims? Would they be suitable for cyclocross? I am also interested in the new gravel rims (RG922), are they available yet? Thanks.

LightBicycle 2017/10/08

Hi Rob, Sorry for the late reply. We were on National Day vacation from October 1st to 7th. We are just back to work today. How much tire pressure will you use? Then we can check whether RM29C06 rim is okay or not for your cyclocross riding. It is hookless design, it is better to make sure the tire pressure is less than 40 psi while riding, to preventing from tire blowing out while riding. Please check our RG922 gravel rim profile as attached. It is 29mm wide and 28mm deep, with hook design. It can hold tire pressure that is higher than 100psi. Thanks, Lightbicycle
