I cannot imagine how my life would be without cycling.
I have been cycling for as long as I can remember. It is much more than a sport for me. I only started racing in my 30s,
but loved cycling and even wrenching on my own bikes during primary school. I have cycled in the Alps, crossed the Pamir
mountains, and made some of my best friends through cycling. A bicycle means freedom for me, and I love to share this
passion, helping friends and colleagues get on the bicycle, organise rides for my community, and participate in the
Critical Mass to fight for better conditions on the roads.
I needed a road bike, not exclusively a TT bike, but something I could also use for training and some Gran Fondos.
After a friend persuaded me to try doing a Triathlon with him in the winter of 2019, and we had signed up for a
Half-Ironman distance event in July 2019 together, it became apparent that I needed a road bike. The goal was not an
exclusively TT/Triathlon-bike, but something I could also use for training rides and maybe some Gran Fondos. For these
purposes, the Light Bicycle AR56 rims seemed a good choice - quite lightweight, aerodynamic, and backed by a reputed manufacturer. An added benefit was
that I could have the rims made exactly to my specifications, in my case that meant internal nipples, and decals that
match the frame perfectly.
Now, about 1 1/2 years later, the bicycle, especially the wheels, have surpassed all my expectations.
I have ridden over 10000km on them, and they are still perfectly true, although I haven’t spared them from any kind of
challenge - riding outdoors all year round, two half-ironman-distance triathlons, several amateur endurance races with
more than 200km/5000m+ per day, bikepacking, light gravel… I am definitely very happy with the wheels and will soon
order from Light Bicycle again for a gravel race build.
