The only thing that counts on my rides is the experience, which should be just as varied.
Dear adrenaline community, I would like to share with you my experiences with the Light Bicycle wheelset Falcon Pro WR40 disc through the following story. Disclaimer: I am not employed by Light Bicycle, nor in any way financially involved. I only got a small financial thank you credit for these words.
About my background: for many of us it is almost like the proverbial cats, which always seem to land on their four feet. For me, the variant applies in that at inopportune times I find myself on all kinds of saddles installed on two wheels. It doesn't seem to matter whether collés for indoor use, studs, or narrow slicks are mounted on the rims. The rim material also allows a wide range - I have even come across rims carved from wood. The only thing that counts on my rides is the experience, which should be just as varied. This includes: “experiencing” nature, the elements such as sun, wind, and sometimes water (unfortunately), coupled with the feeling of freedom and “being” that I cannot describe in words.
A rough gravel bike was out of the question for my local quite heterogeneous hunting ground in the Swiss Central Alps.
For several years we have all been able to experience that in the variety of all two-wheeled extremes. The gravel bike has taken a development stage (thanks also to the UCI!) of two-wheelers, which has surprisingly uncompromisingly included many of these extremes in one concept, combined them, and made them tangible. Anyone who owns a gravel bike knows that wild growth has also spread within this “species”.
Since a "rough gravel bike" was out of the question for my local, quite heterogeneous “hunting ground” in the Swiss Central Alps, I finally decided on an all-road bike setup from the Spanish bike manufacturer ORBEA (model: Orca). The setup is extremely versatile: on one hand, the frame is extremely stiff, has aero properties, and is relatively lightweight. But the best for last: up to 34mm wide tires fit between the frame, making the bike perfect for moderate forest and field paths.
Light Bicycle delivers a perfect product concept with the FALCON PRO WR40 disc wheelset.
Very long and steep mountain and flat sections on asphalt have to be mastered, and in my opinion, Light Bicycle delivers a perfect concept with the FALCON PRO WR40 disc wheelset, which perfectly complements the versatility of my bike setup.
Due to the 40mm high profile, the rim supports driving in flat passages through good aerodynamics without being too nervous in crosswinds. Driving on steep mountain passes is a great pleasure when going up with the relatively low weight (wheelset: 1426g) and when going down with its very high rigidity and direct response. The wide rim (internal width 25mm, outer width 32mm) enables off-road tires which are good for damping when riding away from traffic in light gravel terrain. Variety is the key. After >5,000km (approx. 25% off-road) and >50,000hm mileage, no significant signs of usage are noticeable on the surfaces nor any defects have occurred on the rims. A big THANK-YOU to Light Bicycle for this fantastic product!
