DT Competition Race - All Mountain and XC spoke used by the Chinese location as a substitue for the D-Light (depending on availability)
Pillar PSR X-TRA 1420 - An inexpensive bladed spoke, great for road and cyclocross riding.
Pillar Wing 20 - Pillar patented highest level of aerodynamic bladed spoke reducing potential weak spots and twisting during tensioning. Currently, they are offered in oil slick color only with increased wear and corrosion resistance.
Sapim CX Sprint-Rear drive side/ CX Ray-Other sides - This customized combo increases the rear drive side power transmition efficiency significantly while grabs superior light-weight and aero performance.

Hookless is for those who are running wider tires, lower pressures, or are riding on rougher roads. You will benefit from a more comfortable ride due to the higher volume and increased impact protection. Gravel riders and cyclocross riders are often in this situation.

Paintless: The "Finish" relates to how the rim is coated or painted such as matte or glossy for the most common applications. Our Recon Pro and Falcon Pro rims feature BlackTek and come out of molds as a completed product, with a scratch resistant and near flawless finish, eliminating the need for coating or painting. We name this kind of superior finish the paintless.

Crystal Painting: A fantastic painting effect designed by Light Bicycle.

Full Custom: This option offers custom finish such as Satin/Raw etc at no extra charge but subject to rim models with 3~5 days LONGER on manufacture. And custom color painting is also available with added 15g/rim and extra $20USD/rim as a start. Center Channel Hole This is a required option.

With Access Holes: This is the traditional method. Spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel to allow the nipples to easily be fed through the rim. Tubeless tape is required to seal the rim.

No Access Holes: No spoke access holes are drilled in the center channel. Feeding the nipples through the rim is more challenging, but it allows for a tubeless setup without the need for tape. This kind of system is known as "road tubeless" and was made popular by Mavic. Some companies still refer to it as "UST style", however, UST is actually a specific interface between the tire and rim which was developed by a partnership between Mavic, Michelin, and Hutchinson.

Currently, rims with 'No Access Holes' do not work with our carbon spokes.

Drain Hole This is a required option.

The two small drain holes located 90° to the valve hole effectively help evacuate both the water trapped inside the rim and the air leaking into the rim chamber caused by nonperfect tubeless tape sealing handwork that may risk rim explosure in an aggressive tire inflating.

It is the small reinforced layer prelaminated on the area where the drain hole is drilled later that makes the rim strength fairly ensured without any compromise of weight added.

Riders who ride in wet areas are suggested to order rims with drain holes.

1. Grey Laser Engraving (Falcon Pro) - Our laser engraving technology is eco-friendly and adds a snappy, polished aesthetic to your new rims.
Please note: Contrary to rims with any coated/painted finishes (matte, glossy and satin) as well as Crystal Painting, laser engraving could work with paintless rims only.

2. Full Custom - Add some additional personalization and go full custom with your rim graphics! Laser engraving is available in one colour (light grey) and starts at $5 USD per rim. If you select this option, LEAVE YOUR REQUEST IN QUOTES IN THE NOTES AT CHECKOUT. For example: "I need my personalized logo printed" or "Just text 'ABC racing' ". Valve Stem This is a required option.

We use a lightweight black alloy anodized valves with an oversized concave collar for easy gripping. A rubber o-ring goes in between the rim and the collar to help seal the rim and match the contour of the rim profile. The valve core is removable so you can add sealant without removing your tire.

Tom : I wanted to upgrade my Pivot Vault with a really nice set of gravel wheels for ultra races and just having fun. When I saw a picture of a pair of crystal green painted rims I fell in love and despite my bike not having any green on it whatsoever, I just had to have them! So I ordered a pair of wavy WR40 rims (hooked with no spoke holes) built onto DT240 hubs with CX-Ray spokes and red alloy nipples. I also ordered a 3rd rim so I could get my existing SON 18 dynamo hub built up at home. Now I've been using the wheels for over 6 months now in all kinds of conditions and they're amazing! Having no spoke holes means no rim tape needed and this is a game changer for tubeless, I've barely had to pump up the tyres since I first set them up!

Hi, I'm going to be purchasing the WR40 Wheelset soon, but I'd like to benefit from my Canadian location and use your North American shop to save on duties/taxes compared to ordering from the Global shop. However, I noticed that the North American shop does not offer these rims with NO Access holes - can you confirm this is in fact true and if I want this option I must order from Global shop? Thanks.

Hi, I've been looking at some of your wheels and have a few questions about the WR40 disc, namely regarding the "X-Flow"-profile, the profile schematic shows the spoke holes being aligned with the "widest" part of the variable cross-section of the trailing edge. Does this mean that a 24 spoke rim and a 28 spoke rim come from different moulds and each have a number of "waves" corresponding to the spoke count, or does the cross-sectional variation align with the spokes only for a specific (24?) spoke count, and if so, does it actually matter? How would you say the WR40 compares to the WR38 in terms of impact resistance, stiffness and crosswind stability? Is there some other difference to consider (besides the aero profile and 2mm height difference)? Is the difference between a normal UD finish and a braided one purely cosmetic, or does the construction of the top carbon layer have some impact on the rim's durability, stiffness, or some other technical or performance aspect? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Raymond, Thanks for reaching out. The shape of our x-flow is designed according to 24H, if you want 28H, then it is not completely consistent with the wave of x-flow. The WR40 road disc is higher so it has better impact resistance than the WR38. They're both U-shaped so they have good crosswind stability. The braided UD has no additional technical features, just a difference in appearance, but will weigh 20g/rim more than the UD. Thanks, Lightbicycle
