A set of wheels fully built by Light Bicycle brought me two surprises.

These wheels were bought as a test as I did with my WR45's. Getting a set of wheels fully built by Light Bicycle was a new experience for me because previously all I had purchased were just rims and had my local shop build them for me.

Upon receiving the wheels, I decided to weigh them to see how close to the advertising weight they were, and they were just about exact, which was my first surprise. My second surprise was that I had been sent the new DT Swiss hubs that I had only just heard of. They came with a nice 36T ratchet which was superb.

Light Bicycles also surprised me with a personal touch of mixed-color nipples.

I got these mounted up to my titanium bike and they transformed the look so much because a special person at Light Bicycle surprised me with a personal touch of mixed color spoke nipples between purple and blue to match the theme of my bike.

Threw on a fresh pair of tires and off to the trail I went. I could instantly tell the difference in weight and rolling resistance. I could take off quicker compared to my previous wheels, and engagement was always there when I needed it and the hub sound was just right. I’m not one who wants a super loud hub, so the 36T ratchet was just what I needed. Since I decided to go the stealth route and not have any decals, I had a ton of people ask me about them, which was great as it gave me a chance to tell them about Light Bicycle, the build, and the unique touch that was added. They enjoyed hearing it as sometimes when you buy wheels, you want to do something personal yet some companies are very straight forward and it’s an added cost. Light Bicycle will make sure they can do all the personal touches so that when you get your wheels, it is exactly what you want.

My FAT680 wheels have been through deep snow, sand, dirt, and even some mud and they just keep on rocking. I enjoy the wheels so much that I am going to order another pair to have a racing wheel and a winter training wheel. To this day, I have yet to buy anything from Light Bicycle that has disappointed me. I will continue to work with all these amazing people and continue to represent them as best as possible.
