The Birth of a Lifelong Passion: From Anodized Parts to DIY Builds
Cycling has been my passion since I was 18. It all started with mountain biking in its heyday, with
colorful anodized parts and adventurous lightweight components that would occasionally fall apart
mid-ride.
From the very beginning, I built my bikes myself. A huge thank you goes to my colleague Oli, who
worked for a major bicycle manufacturer back in the 2000s and made it possible for us to order
everything a cyclist could need directly from Asia.
Evolving Philosophy: The Pursuit of Lightweight, Exclusive, Uncompromising Challenge
Over time, road bikes came into my life, and a few years later, I developed a love for gravel bikes.
As I got older, my expectations for my bikes changed. They became increasingly high-quality, more
exclusive, lightweight yet durable, and visually striking.
One thing I remained true to, however, was that cycling is a challenge, not just against others, but
also against oneself. Therefore, it always had to be as technically difficult as possible or as fast
as possible. And true to this motto, the 3T Exploro Racemax entered my life.
When building it up, I was looking for wheels that met my requirements in terms of appearance,
weight, robustness, and exclusivity. Light Bicycle, with their WR45 disc rim was ideal, especially
with the optional 12K diamond pattern.
The Alpine-Proof Wheelset: WR45 Disc for All Seasons and Adventures
With these wheels, I've already covered several thousand meters of elevation gain and roughly tens
of thousands of kilometers. That's in summer, autumn, and of course, winter. After all, I live in
the Alps, so it's important to have fun in every season.
My Falcon WR45 disc wheels weigh under 1500
grams, they run as smoothly as the day I bought them,
and I can run tires up to 50mm wide on them, as well as 32mm road bike tires. This set has become my
favorite. An Airia 47 disc wheelset is coming soon; let's see what adventures I'll have with it.
