TECH

The RG922 is one of the newest members of the Flyweight family and part of our Falcon road line. With an asymmetric profile and 22mm internal width, this rim is designed for high performance ultralight wheelset builds.

Our Flyweight construction method uses a blend of Toray T700 and T800, and a thinner pre-preg for a lighter rim weight without reducing the actual number of layers in the layup schedule. Our spoke hole patching treatment removes unnecessary weight from the nipple bed, making this rim a truly light, high pressure-capable product with a weight of just 380g.

Philippe : A combination of 650b with 48mm tires at the rear and 700c with 38mm tire at the front is just right for gravel: good traction and comfort, slacker geometry. AR36 (RG722) rear and AR28 (RG922) front with 28 J-bent spokes, light (1440g/pair) should be plenty strong and durable. Good mid clearance at the back mud.

Regarding the FALCON rim AR28 disc Gravel- I tried to build this into a set but could not select DT240s and the discount code did not work. It also would not let me select 28 holes for the front. What I need is 28x28 with DT240s (if discount code works) or DT350s if code does not work.

LightBicycle 2020/07/30

Hi Neil, We have new 240 exp hubs in front 24H/rear 24H or front 24H/rear 28H options. For old 240S hubs, we have front 24H/rear 24H and front 28H/rear 28H. Which do you prefer for AR28 disc wheelset? Thanks, Lightbicycle

I would like a rim the width and height like the "29er disc bike rims 29mm wide 28mm deep clincher for cyclocross and gravel bikes" But for use with 700c tires.

LightBicycle 2020/01/23

Hi Daniel, Thanks for your reaching out!For RG922, it is the same size as 700C. This rim is actually 700C size. You can mount 700C 23C~50C tires on these RG922 gravel bike rims/wheels. Don't worry. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, What is the sidewall height for the GR922 rims? Specifically I am asking about the G Height of the rim as per ETRTO standards see: https://www.google.com/amp/s/janheine.wordpress.com/2019/04/10/safety-advice-non-standard-rims-and-rene-herse-tires/amp/

LightBicycle 2019/10/18

Hi Jason, For RG922 gravel bike rim, the side wall height(G height) is 5.5mm. It is for tubeless. Please let us know if there is any other questions. If you add rim tape on rim bed, it G height will be around 5.2mm for tubeless. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Rod 2018/11/17

Is there a hookless option for this rim?

LightBicycle 2018/11/29

Hi Rod, The gravel rim you are looking at RG922 (29mm wide, 28mm deep) only provide the hook version for now. If you are looking for a close profile rim, you can look at our RM29C06 (27mm wide, 24mm deep) or the newly launched scratch proof rim XC925 (30mm wide, 23mm deep). You can check out the rim profiles from the attachment. Details are as follows pages. Let me know if you have any questions or want quotes for a wheelset. RM29C06: https://www.lightbicycle.com/bead-hook-less-rims-carbon-29er-light-bike-rim-tubeless-compatible.html XC925: https://www.lightbicycle.com/Hand-built-XC925-asymmetric-rim-profile-carbon-fiber-mtb-29er-wheels.html Thanks, Lightbicycle

Henry 2019/02/11

Hello. I'm am interested in the RG922 29er Rim in 32H. I weigh exactly 275 pounds (125 kilos). Is there another rim you recommend, or is this one OK? Do you offer the RG922 32H in a version for a heavier rider/bike? Thank you!

LightBicycle 2019/02/14

Hi Henry, What kind of riding you usually do? What tire width you plan to use? Normally, road riding won't be too aggressive, so your weight is ok for RG922 gravel rim. With 32 spokes, the wheelset you built would be very strong for big rider. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Joshua 2018/01/26

Hello, I am looking for the lightest possible rim for my gravel bike. I will use 32~45 mm tyres. What are the reccomented max pressures for this rim? The RM29C06 Flyweight is much lighter could I use it instead? Will it be better?

LightBicycle 2018/01/27

Hi Joshua, Here are the differences between RG922 and RM29C06 flyweight version. 1. Recommended tire pressure: RG922 is 110psi, RM29C06 flyweight is 60psi. If you run over 60psi, we suggest you choose RG922. 2. Max rider weight: RG922 is 125kg, RM29C06 flyweight is 90kg. 3. Weight: RG922 is 380g+/-15g, RM29C06 flyweight is 280g+/-15g 4. Structure: RG922 is with the asymmetrical design, RM29C06 is with symmetrical design. Asymmetrical rim profile, it provides better spoke tension balance between drive-side and non-drive side. It will make wheels more durable. If you ride more than 40~60psi, it is better to go for RG922 rims. Thanks, Lightbicycle
