TECH

Our 34mm wide wheels have become our most popular asymmetric product thanks to its versatility. The 28mm inner width offers a wide and stable tire profile for your enduro tires, without becoming square-edged. You can easily get away with running 2.2’s or 2.5’s, but 2.3” - 2.4” tires are the sweet spot. The EN version has an extra wrap of 3k carbon fiber around the nipple bed, and reinforced sidewalls support G-Out forces, and increased rim stiffness, increasing suitability for aggressive riders over 200 pounds.

More air volume, a wider stance, and the bead seat retention system will keep your tires in place on race day and provide an incredibly solid tubeless platform. Wheel stiffness is further increased with a deep profile, allowing for cornering and charging through rough terrain with more speed and confidence than ever before.

Thomas : The AM928 wheelset I have was ridden all through COVID. It's been through thousands of miles and tough descents. I did the DT350 hubs and installed the 54t ratchet later and it has been super reliable since 2020. This bike has been bikepacked and trail ridden in MO, NM, AZ, UT, CO, WY, MT, ID and never skipped a beat. It even did the singletrack descent at mount lemmon. The wheelset has survived thousands of square edge rock hits at speed and shows only a few scratches. I think the hookless thick bead bed is the reason they can survive so much abuse. Although I never put these wheels on my enduro bike (they are non-boost) I think they would hold up pretty well at the bike park as well. They never came out of true (only wheelset I've ever been able to say that about) and I never broke a spoke or lost tension on any of the spokes. This is the AM928, non boost, DT350 54T straight pull 32h, with aluminum nipples.

Edwin : A great wheelset made with no sooke access holes. No tape necessary for tubeless! Light feeling and plenty robust even running low tire pressure to gain some comfort on my hardtail. The surface hardness is also surprisingly good. Barely notice and superficial wounds from some minor rock encounters. The DT hubs are solid! So good I'll buy from Light Bicycle again and again. Koko is knowledgeable and realistic!

Robert : Lightbycycle AM928 were my first carbon wheels and they've been perfect for years. First used on my mtb and now double as gravel wheels. Amazing versatility and dependability laced up to DT Swiss hubs. Ready for a second set for the road!!

Pablo : This wheelset has been bullet proof. Had them for over 4 years on my ‘Party Hardtail’ where as a 200lb rider I have ridden things that most folks would not attempt on anything but an endure bike.

Philip : Here are a few shots with the built wheelset. I used black spokes with your rims and your brass oil-slick nipples. Amazing products, and my only complaint is that I wish I had built these sooner!! Mullet wheelsets build EN928/EN728.

Interested in just the front wheel for XC racing. I weigh 155 lbs (70kg) and interested in the best rim for 2.35 Maaxis Ardent Race (non-EXO casing). On my Specialized Roval Control SL, the inner diameter is 22mm and the tire seems to have a bit rounded profile. Interested in getting just the front wheel with larger inner diameter. AM928 DT240 6-bolt 15/100mm (non-boost) 28 hole Sapim CX Ray If you could provide a quote for delivery to U.S. Much thanks!

Damien 2017/07/10

Hi, I am looking for a new carbon wheelset for my weight and riding. I am a 105kg/230lb rider, mostly XC but do some technical AM descents. I was looking at a pair of AM928 or EN928 / Boost hubs DT240s front and rear / 32 hole / Sapim CX Ray spokes / Brass nipples. Can you advise cost with shipping to Australia. Would you recommend this configuration for my size? Thank you in advance for your time.

LightBicycle 2017/07/11

Hi Damien, Thanks for your inquiry! If you ride a bit technical descent, you can choose front AM928/ rear EN928. For EN928, it is with some more carbon fiber material added, will make rims stronger. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Mike 2017/05/03

Do these work on plus bikes like the Trek Stache?

LightBicycle 2017/05/04

Hello Mike, Thanks for your inquiry. The AM928 wheels are designed for all mountain riding mainly but suitable for plus bike also. The recommend tires width are 2.1’’ ~ 2.7’’. However, a wider rim will be more comfortable for plus bike riding. May I know what the tire width you use? Also, what your riding terrain is normally? Then we will do some recommendations and quote accordingly. Thanks, Lightbicycle

LightBicycle 2017/03/27

Hello Matt, Thanks for your inquiry. If you like our newest mtb decal in Yeti turquoise, that is fine. Please find attached picture of the pantone color which is similar to Yeti turquoise. Does that work for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Steve 2017/03/24

G'day Light Bicycle, I hope you are well. What is the shipping cost to Australia for a pair of XC923 / DT240s / 28 hole /CX Ray straight pull spokes For a 69 kg / 152 lb XC rider would you recommend the XC923 wheels in this configuration? Thank you in advance for your time

LightBicycle 2017/03/25

Hello Steve, Thanks for your inquiry. The XC923 wheelset built with DT 240S straight pull 6-bolt standard hubs and Sapim cx-ray spokes is $1083/pair. The delivery cost is $58 for one wheelset to Australia by EMS. Your total comes to $1180.94 USD plus paypal fee. The XC923 rim is designed for XC riding. You are not a large rider, so the wheels are strong enough for your riding. Also, the DT 240S hubs and Sapim cx-ray spokes are light and with good quality. They are what we recommended. Thanks, Lightbicycle
