  • Manufacturing process
Our air bladders are made from a special material which produces smoother walls, result in a lighter rim, and are completely removed without harsh chemicals. They are removed through the valve hole with a unique process so that the rim does not have to be patched like traditional manufacturers use. This significantly improves the strength of the rims. Read More about our process here
  • Precise layup
Each rim carries its own layup schedule documents which are followed meticulously by the layup workers. Our Engineering team creates a unique fiber orientation which amplifies the desired riding characteristics for a given rim.
  • Angled Holes
Angled spoke holes allows the nipple to pull straight in line with the spoke for reduced stress. This results in fewer broken spokes and nipples.
  • U-Shape
U-shape profile spreads the force of impacts and creates a more robust product.
  • Bead lock
The small ridges on either side of the drop channel help secure tubeless tires in place. The bead lock makes it easier to seal up tubeless tires with a floor pump, and they are incredibly hard to burp.
  • Tubeless
While the rims are optimized for a tubeless setup with the addition of tubeless tape, they also work with tubes.
  • Hookless
Carbon fiber flows continuously over the bead area to provide the best impact resistance and a significant strength increase compared to a clincher rim.
  • T700
Constructed with premium Toray T700 carbon fiber. The best strength to weight ratio with no expense spared.

Hi! I'm thinking about building my next LightBicycle wheelset for my downhill bike. So far i am very satisfied with the light cross country rims i bought from you. I'm wondering if this rim is your most suitable offer for a downhill bike. I use to ride quite hard on technical downhills in europe and in the alps. They will have to withstand big jumps and drops as well.. Would they be a good choice?
LightBicycle : (2017-06-05)
Hello Garofalo, Thanks for your continued support. According to your info, our 38mm wide 650B HD rim is strong enough for your riding. The HD version has extra layers for increased stiffness and sidewall reinforcement. Ideal for large and aggressive riders. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Chris : (2017-02-13)
What is the main advantages and disadvantages between these and the en/am733 besides the dimensions?
LightBicycle : (2017-02-14)
Hello Chris, Please find below rims difference between RM650BC13 and AM/EN733. -Both rims feature angled spoke holes, a modern u-shaped profile, have a bead lock and work with or without tubes. Both rims also have a low profile hookless bead with a large radius which helps reduce pinch flats. -Our 40mm asymmetrical rims will have more even spoke tension than our 38mm which results in a more durable wheel build. The low tension spokes will be at higher tension compared to a traditional rim which results in less wheel re-truing. -The 40mm has slightly increased impact protection than the 38mm but both are quite strong, especially in the heavier/reinforced version of the rim. The 40mm are wider and deeper so the lateral and vertical stiffness are increased. -Both rims come with a 1-year warranty. The 40mm rims have a 2-year crash replacement policy at 25% discount, and the 38mm have a 1-year crash replacement policy at 15% discount. Thanks, Lightbicycle
