TECH

The 35mm wheels have been a mainstay in our lineup for years. They have a wide profile, are super light at just 400g, and are not overly stiff. Suitable for light enduro, but they are primarily used for trail riders who enjoy all day adventures due to their low rotational weight and compliance.

I have a 12mm thru axel in my front hub. Do you offer the 650BC05 wheelset with a 12mm thru axel front hub?

LightBicycle 2018/08/24

Hi Andrew, We have got your message. Thank you for your interested. Do you like front 12*100mm thru axle disc hubs? Is it your bike mtb disc or road road disc? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Cobus 2018/05/27

I am looking for a set of wheels for my new Gravelgrinder (Lynskey GR260). I need deeper section rims that can take rider weight of 100kg for non-aggressive (gravel) riding. Width of 32/34 is fine. What do you recommend?

LightBicycle 2018/05/28

Hi Cobus, We have a new gravel rim coming out around this week, which I think might be a good fit for you. Attaching with the rim profile for your ref. If you are interested, I can make a reservation for your first. RR56C02, 23mm inner/30mm outer width, 56mm deep Thanks, Lightbicycle

Karen 2018/05/01

Hi there, could you recommend a strong and light wheel set for my Pivot Mach 5.5. I'm 120lbs and don't ride too aggressively but trails are rocky and i like the 2.6 tires on the bike. Thanks !

LightBicycle 2018/05/02

Hi Karen, According to your description, RM650BC05(35mm wide 650B bike rim) will be a good fit for you. But you mentioned the rocky terrain, you might want to consider choosing the enduro version for the better impact resistance (additional carbon fiber layer ) Thanks, Lightbicycle

Karen 2018/05/02

thanks, that is the one I am looking at. do I need 32hole or 28hole rims ?

LightBicycle 2018/05/03

Dear Karen, 32 spokes wheel is stronger than 28 spokes wheel but certainly heavier. But the weight difference (about 35g) is worth for the additional strength. Especially for the rocky terrain you ride on. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Nick 2017/07/29

Hello, I have a Santa Cruz Bronson C, im looking for a wheel that will support a 650B 2.4in tire (maxxis high roller), 6 bolt brake and boost axle spec, and the DT Swiss 350 hubs. I typically ride rocky terrain and ride aggressively. What wheel would you recommend? Also, how does hub hole count affect wheel builts? not sure how 28/32 hole would affect me Thanks

LightBicycle 2017/07/31

Hi Nick, Thanks for your inquiry! According to your riding style, we recommend WM650C13 wheelset to you. It is more deeper and stronger than WM650C05 wheelset. And it can also fit 2.4 inch tires. For spoke count, more spokes offer more strength, so 32H for the front and rear wheels is better choice. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Cybercorreio 2017/07/23

Hi, I am looking for a wheelset of Carbon 650b wheels - boost- 110mm up front and 148 rear I Need a Front rim with a 30mm internal width and the rear one can be 27mm or up 30mm. The front hub should be light and roll well, the rear one the same but stronger. Mainly with a quick engagement like DT ratchet system. The use is all - mountain on the Alps. I would appreciate your advice with components , price and weight. By the way, is a ZDF free hub for SRAM 12 gears. Thanks Pedro

LightBicycle 2017/07/24

Hi Cybercorreio, We recommend front RM650BC13 31.8mm inner wide rim/rear EN728 28mm inner wide rim) we recommend is much stronger. Does it work for you. If yes, please let us know what hubs and spokes you like. We can quote accordingly for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Frank 2016/11/23

Hello, I have a 650B Yeti SB5C and wish to upgrade my wheels to a carbon set. I was hoping to use Chris King hubs. Can you suggest the best wheel set combination that would suit. I was hoping to use the 32 spoke configuration. I run SRAM 11 speed. Also, I was hoping to fit the widest rim acceptable for my bike size. Thanks Frank

LightBicycle 2016/11/24

Hello Frank, Thanks for your inquiry. We are able to build the 650B wheels with Chris King ISO 32H hubs. May I know what your riding terrain is normally? Do you ride aggressively? What is your weight? Then we will do some recommendations and quote accordingly. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Kevin 2016/07/07

I'm still a little confused about the decal options. I want a RM650BC05 wheelset can I get it with the new decal graphic in the silver or grey. The picture shows the rim that way, but when I go to the decal selection option is shows that old decal design and no silver. Is the new decal design in silver available with the RM650BC05 wheelset? Thanks.

Light-Bicycle 2016/07/08

Thanks for your inquiry. Please find the new sticker(removable). You like stealth color, right? It's OK to have this kind of stickers on RM650BC05 wheelset. https://www.lightbicycle.com/light-bicycle/EN728-asymmetric-rim-profile-carbon-27.5-inch-mtb-rims/enduro-carbon-rim.jpg May I know the RM650BC05 wheelset specification you'd like? It's OK to send a screenshot for my reference. Then I can make the purchasing links for you. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Randy 2016/05/26

Hi i am building up a 650b bike with the new boost options on it . I weigh about 83 kg . and ride harder terrain in B.C. I am wondering what options is best for me ? the 34 mm or the 35 mm ? Also is there an option to pick your new decal style on all rims ? Thanks Randy .

Light-Bicycle 2016/05/27

Hello Randy, Thanks for your inquiry. According to your details, I will recommend the EN728 or 38mm width wheels. Both are quite strong. Technically the 38mm yields a slightly higher impact resistance, but it's quite close. You will get more even spoke tension with the asymmetrical rim which makes for a more durable wheel build, so the 34mm has the advantage there. If you prefer a slightly more round and more natural tire profile with medium stiffness, go with the asymmetrical rims. If you prefer a wider more squared off profile with more volume, then go with the 38's. Our newest stickers are available in a variety of colors on all mtb rims. Picture attached for reference. Thanks, Light-bicycle

N

Nehme 2016/07/05

Does this mean that the EN728 are stronger than this wheelset? Even the HD version?

Light-Bicycle 2016/07/07

Hi Nehme, Thanks for your inquiry. EN728(34mm wide) and RM650BC05(35mm wide): --Both rims feature angled spoke holes, have a bead lock and work with or without tubes. Both rims also have a low profile hookless bead with a large radius which helps reduce pinch flats. --Our 34mm asymmetrical rims will have more even spoke tension than our 35mm which results in a more durable wheel build. The low tension spokes will be at higher tension compared to a traditional rim which results in less wheel re-truing. --The 34mm is deeper so the vertical stiffness is increased. Riders that prefer a more compliant ride would be happier on the 34mm rims. The 34mm rims with their new layup design have the best strength to weight ration in our lineup. --Both rims come with a 1-year warranty. The 34mm rims have a 2-year crash replacement policy at 25% discount, and the 35mm have a 1-year crash replacement policy at 15% discount. --The 34mm rims come with the highest quality vinyl decals in a new design. You can choose between 7 colours and they are easily replaceable if you want to replace them in the future. The 35mm has thin decals applied under the clear coat which are not replaceable. These are also no charge, optional, and available in 8 colours. Thanks, light-bicycle

Moises 2016/05/23

Hello, Which brand aluminium nipples do ypu use as standard? According to http://www.sapim.be/choose-the-right-product their alaluminium nipples are better and stronger than brass. I'm interested in a complete set of wheels with the AM 30mm internal rims but would like to have sapin cx ray straitpull spokes on hope or dtswiss 240s hubs. Would that be possible? Axles: Front 15/100mm; rear 12/142 Can you send me a quotation inclyding handling snd delivery to Sweden? Kind regards

Light-Bicycle 2016/05/24

Hello Moises, For nipples, we have DT Swiss and sapim cx-ray aluminium nipples. It is DT Swiss squorx pro head alloy nipples or sapim polyax nipples. Which do you prefer? Carl 2016/05/21

Hi, Interested in this setup for a full wheel build. I am 75kg and an enduro rider, will these be tough enough? Thanks Carl

Light-Bicycle 2016/05/23

Hello Carl, Thanks for your inquiry. The 35mm width HD wheelset is suitable for your riding. But the 38mm width rim is our strongest model. If you don’t mind the rim weight, 38mm width is a nice choice. WM650BC05 (with 35mm width HD version, Hope pro4 hubs): $819/pair WM650BC13 (with 38mm width AM version, Hope pro4 hubs): $813/pair Thanks, Lightbicycle

Dan 2016/04/14

Hi, Which rim tape (brand and width) are people typically using with the 35mm rims (650BC05)? Is the 27mm stans tape a good option or can you suggest something better? Thanks, Dan

Light-Bicycle 2016/04/18

Hello Dan, Thanks for your inquiry. For the 35mm wide 650b rim(RM650BC05), the inner width is 30mm and it's OK to use 28mm~18mm width rim tape for tubeless. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Michele 2016/03/31

Hello LB, I'm evaluating to buy a new wheelset for my AM bike. I saw that all the hubs available are only for 6 bolt disc. Only the DT Swiss 240S have the Center Lock system for disc? Do you have other hubs compliant with CL system? Thank you Michele

Light-Bicycle 2016/04/01

Hello Michele, Thanks for your inquiry. Currently, for center lock hubs, we only have DT Swiss 240S 28H and DT Swiss 350 28H. For other hubs, they are all 6-bolt disc. DT Swiss hubs are with good quality, i think they are good choice for you. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello LB, Are you able to get industry nine hubs and spokes? Thanks, Jason

Light-Bicycle 2016/03/01

Hello Jason, Thanks for your inquiry. Currently, only Novatec/ Hope/ DT Swiss hubs, and Pillar/DT comp/ Sapim spokes are available, not Industry nine hubs or spokes. Sorry for the inconvenience. You can order the rims only and build the wheels at your local. Does that work for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle
