TECH

The WR35 was built with one goal in mind: making the best rim possible for long distance gravel racing or riding.

With a massive 25mm inner diameter, the WR35 provides a stable profile for even the widest gravel tires.

Thanks to its mid-depth profile, the WR35 is deep enough to provide aerodynamic help when riding alone across gravel plains, but not so deep that is hard to control in crosswinds.

Whether you find yourself racing across the Midwest or month long backpacking trip, the WR35 might just be the perfect match.

Mike 2022/03/25

Hello there, Just starting to think about a set of carbon wheels for my 2021 Salsa Cutthroat. I'd like to incorporate a SON28 front hub (29" wheel, 32H, 15x110 mm boost thru axle) - and be tubeless ready. Not sure about rim or spoke type. My current wheel has centerlock disc type (stock on cutthroat) but I imagine 6 hole disc would work as well. It's also a Wtb i25 (25MM WIDTH) Same rim on rear, with 12x148 spacing, running a Shimano HG700 cassette. Can you propose a wheel set fitting that description with a quote? Would like to keep the cost down if at all possible. Just looking for solid/dependable performance. Certainly willing to discuss options! Thanks, Mike

LightBicycle 2022/03/26

Hi Mike, Yes, we could supply SON 28 front hub. What is your tire width? Is XC924(24mm/30mm width, 25mm depth) 29er mtb rim okay for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Parker 2021/05/05

Is the weight of 430 grams per rim or for both rims?

LightBicycle 2021/05/06

Hi Parker, The weights listed on the page are for one single rim. 430g is really light for a rim as wide as WR35-32mm road disc 700C. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, I am looking for some new rims for my gravel bike. I recently bought some for my road bike and love them :) The new rims should be about 30mm deep and about 30mm wide, symmetric, lightweight, with hooks and 28 holes. Can you help me with that? Cheers, Jaron

LightBicycle 2020/12/15

Hi Jason, This WR35( )32mm wide, 35mm deep rims road disc will be close to what you are looking for. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Is it possible to get these without the graphics? All black if possible. Thanks!

LightBicycle 2020/11/20

Hi Kevin, Yes, you can have the 32mm wide road disc rims 700C without decals as you wish. The option is listed on the configurator. Or, you can order the rims via email if you like. Just let me know what specs you want. Thanks, Lightbicycle

paul 2020/08/07

Hi, I am interested in a wheel set built using your Falcon 32mm wide 35mm deep carbon rims, ideally with both rims being the flyweight version. I realize you only recommend the flyweight for the rear wheel, but I am only ~70-72kg rider + ~9.5kg of gravel bike. The rear hub would be a 28h Hope Pro 4 and the front hub a Cannondale Lefty 1.0 28h being used with a lefty Oliver Fork. I would use Sapim D-light spokes with brass nipples. Can you advise if you feel this would be a suitable/safe build? Many thanks, Paul

LightBicycle 2020/08/08

Hi Paul, Yes, we usually don't recommend running the flyweight rim on the back. We suggest standard rims on the back to make the wheelset stronger and durable for long term use. You are not a big rider if you insist on using the flyweight rim on the back, it shouldn't be a problem. However, I would still suggest running the standard on the back. The weight difference is 55g. The brass nipples are heavier than alloy ones if you want to prevent corrosion (raining, wet conditions), they would be wonderful. If you want to get lighter, alloy nipples will also be a good option. For road disc wheels 700C, we mostly built with Sapim CX-Ray spokes, they are lighter than D-light and durable, and also aero. Thanks, Lightbicycle

What’s the fastest you can do to ship? Also the design graphic how much do you charge and how long dies that take as well?

LightBicycle 2020/06/20

Hi Michael, 1. Could you be more specific about the road disc wheelset 700C you want so I can check the availability and lead time for you? 2. Normally, custom decal would extend the lead time. It would take a week or so to produce and confirm with you and then apply on the rims. Do you have a sketch or design idea so our designer can make a mockup with? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Knut 2020/04/27

Hi. How is the flyweight version of this rim to a powerful rider that is 80kg? Could I get a quote on these rims with DT240 straight pull centerlock, 24holes front and 28holes rear, withSapim CXray spokes. How is shipping to Norway for rims? Thank you:)

LightBicycle 2020/04/27

Hi Knut, 1. The max rider weight we recommend for the flyweight WR35 (25mm internal, 32mm outer with, 35mm depth) is 90kg. However, we also recommend using the flyweight rim for the front wheel only. It's better to run the standard version rim on the back. 2. Given the fact that DT SWISS is about to upgrade the 240s hubs to the new EXP system soon. So many 240s hubs are hard to purchase now. I would suggest 24H/24H for the wheelset. 3. The cost for DT 240s hubs with WR35 rims, Sapim CX-Ray spokes would be USD $921.4/pair for 32mm wide road disc wheelset. let me know your thoughts on this. I will prepare the invoice for you when you are ready to order. 4. We are offering $1 shipping for all orders now, the offer is about to end at the end of this week. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Ken 2020/04/06

Hi, do you recommend the WR35 disc rim for mountain biking? I am 85kg and race XC. Thanks, Ken

LightBicycle 2020/04/07

Hi Ken, What would be the tire width that you planning on using for your XC bike? Normally, the MTB tire is wider than gravel tires. We need to make sure the tire fitting is ok. For WR45 (25mm internal/32mm outer width, 45mm depth) itself, the strength and stiffness would be enough for your weight (85kg without gear?) and XC riding. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Joseba 2019/12/01

I am interested in WR35 disc but I see that it has an internal width of 25 mm Isn't it too much for the 700x28c road tire? Schwalbe says .. mounting, the drop center of the rim should be 2.6 to 3 mm deep, concave and at least 12 mm wide. The rim’s inner width should be at least 17C, while 19C or 21C is optimum.

LightBicycle 2019/12/02

Hi Joseba, We did tire mounting test on our 32mm wide rims and the Schwalbe Pro One 28c tires are very easy to install. On the other hand, 25c tires are relatively harder. But still easy to install, no leaver needed. We also have 28mm wide/36mm deep road disc rims if you like, Please check below link. https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicycle-disc-rims-28mm-wide-36mm-deep-aero-clincher.html Thanks, Lightbicycle

Nick 2019/11/24

Are the spoke holes drilled or molded? Are they angled to reduce stress at the spike hole? Thanks!

LightBicycle 2019/11/25

Hi Nicholas, All our carbon bike rims are drilled by a 4-axis CNC machine. The spoke holes are angled drilling with forward/backward/left/right angle to make spoke direction going on well in wheelbuilding. If you use special hubs, you can let us know your hub specs. We can customized angle drilling to match your hubs on WR35 32mm wide road disc rims. Thanks, Lightbicycle
