TECH

At Light Bicycle, our story begins with carbon mountain bike rims—and it never ends. Our first carbon MTB rim was born in 2011. Over the years, our MTB wheels have won the unanimous favor of riders. With the innovation and changes in the mountain bike wheels market, we are excited to introduce the all-new Helios Mountain Rim Series.

As one of the XC models of Helios Series, Helios XC928 is a superlight XC race machine, featuring a 28mm wide internal rim profile optimized for use with 2.35"-2.4" tires, 22mm/24mm depth, and an asymmetric design. If you’re looking to save weight from any XC or down-country bike, Helios XC928 would be your first choice.

Helios XC928 hits the sweet spot with a low profile, lightweight design and ranks among the lightest XC rims on the market. With a rim weight of 238g, you can easily build a sub-1kg wheelset. The Helios XC928, laced to Extralite hubs and Berd spokes, weighs just 876g per pair.

Various hub combinations are available, such as DT Swiss, Extralite. If you have a specific color or request of hub, contact us to check on their availability. Freehubs available are: Shimano MTB 10/11S, Shimano Micro Spline, and the SRAM XD etc.

The tire pressure for this rim is recommended at 35 psi. The rider's weight limit is 209lbs. The positive stiffness test on the rim has reached 100J.

BH : Make no mistake, the Helios XC928 rims build into an absolutely incredible set of wheels for your bike! Admittedly I'm a Light Bicycle fan, currently using eight different sets of LB rims (different generations and families and bike types), and building up dozens of other pairs for friends, and I haven't had a single issue with any of them. LB had great timing with their Helios rims, as I was starting to plan a new set of wheels for a coming bike. I love my XC930 and AR25 wheelsets, but ideally wanted something just slightly narrower than the XC930 but slightly wider and a touch stiffer than the AR25. The Helios jumps right into that spot BUT it's lighter and stiffer than either, and looking closely at the new construction, I am convinced it's absolutely more durable for the long run as well! It keeps the beautiful paintless finish that other manufacturers should be jealous of. I don't usually trust others to build my wheels, but considering the amazing job LB did on my recent Aria wheels, I decided I'd have them handle the build. The LB team was great to work with, setting me up with exactly the build I was looking for. I went with the more unique Erase hook hubs, to complement Berd spokes and Sapim nipples. Now I did have to wait a touch longer for the wheels, but I can understand given these were absolutely new rims just starting to be built. The LB team was amazing at keeping me updated and answering any questions along the way. On the scale, the build was a wild 997grams! And on the trail... well, LB has certainly worked some magic with these rims! Laterally stiff with minimal deflection, while retaining this impressive and subtle compliance through the ride. They accelerate and change directions in the way only a wheelset this light, and good, can. It says a lot to me, when you can throw a wheelset this light on your bike, and other than the lightness and responsiveness, not have to "think" about them again for a few hundred offroad miles so far! Thanks Light Bicycle!

Can I order Helios XC928 rims in 24 hole? Also can I get no access holes?

LightBicycle 2025/09/17

Hi Patrick, Sorry, our Helios XC928 29er XC mtb rims only have 28H option. Would you be interested in our XC925? It is okay to custom 24H. The flyweight version only 295±15g, could you provide your weight and riding style? Then we can check if flyweight fits you~ Thanks, Lightbicycle
