Scott : The wheels arrived safe and sound today. Thank you very much for all the work you have done to get them to me, I really appreciate it. Once I get the tyres on I’ll be putting some photos on Instagram and thanking you there too.

Christian : Really satisfied with the rims. Very light for this size. The size is perfect either for flat or uphill. The aero features make these rims going very fast. Meanwhile the standard brake track performance is not impressive, but works well enough. If there is an option for 30mm wide, 65mm depth would be nice. Definitely will recommend these rims. Once again thank you Light Bicycle.

ChooChooNY : My new LB WR56 wheels with DT Swiss 350 hubs. Running tubeless with Conti 5000s (25mm) - very smooth and comfy. I got a KOM on my first ride with them -- one that I'd been trying for over the past few months. It was, however, very difficult to mount the Continental Grand Prix 5000 TLE tires on the WR56 rims. The same tires had about 200 miles on them and just needed a tiny help from a tire lever to mount on my other non-LB wheels (and seated with a track pump). For the WR56s I had to tie a strap around the tire to hold it to the rim while I manhandled the rest of the tire onto the rim. I then needed an air compressor to seat the beads. No way will I be able to fix a flat using an innertube when I'm outside on the road. I do love the speed of these wheels!

Wheel build is the Light Bicycle AR56 rim 24h front and 28h rear laced with DT double butted spokes with Sapim double square blue alloy nipples on Hope RS4 hubs. I have been building wheels for 20 years and have been impressed with the quality and finish of these rims.

Are these available hookless? Can they be built with a dt350 straight pull road hub with 36T ratchet?

LightBicycle 2020/07/27

Hi Matt, We can specially make the hookless version of AR56 for you if you like. There will be no extra cost for customization. The hookless version rims are mostly for tire pressure under 70psi. Most people run it around 50-60psi range. If you plan to run higher pressure, I would recommend going with the hook version. Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Rupert 2019/07/11

For the rim-brake version of these rims are they 30mm wide at the brake track? Have you had any feedback over compatibility with brake calipers? My understanding is that brake calipers are not usually designed to fit anything wider than 25mm

LightBicycle 2019/07/12

Hi Rupert, Please let us know your caliper model, then we can check whether your brake is wide enough for 30mm wide disc wheelset. Thanks, Charlie

Rudy 2019/12/08

I had recently ordered and received a 30 mm rim and I think r8000 caliper is not wide enough to accommodate the rim. Is there brake calipers you recommend?

LightBicycle 2019/12/10

Hi Ruby, I have done some researches online, here are some calipers that could fit for 30mm rims Road bike. SRAM Red 22 Hydro R Shimano 105 Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 SRAM Red 22 Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, i’m wondering if you reccomend to build these rims with nipple washers? Thanks

LightBicycle 2019/08/22

Hi Kalle, We do not use nipple washers here for building raod and mountain bike wheels. The spoke holes’ wall strength is strong enough. But if you insist to use washers, it is okay if you do not mind weight adding. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hello, I was curious about order a set of RR56C02 rims. I wanted to get white graphics on a matte UD rim, but I only want the "light bicycle" rectangle around the valve and not the stripes on the sides. Is that something that is possible? Thanks for your time, Tony

LightBicycle 2019/04/18

Hi Anthony, It is okay to get only white valve logo on RR56C02 road disc rims. Don't worry. We will make graphic file for your check to make sure everything is correct. And also take pictures of rims for your check before shipping. Do you like UD matte 24H or 28H? 2pcs? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Jan 2019/04/06

Hi, Can you tell me how the 28c tire can get on this rims? I'm thinking about combining these rims with continental GP 5000 tl but I'm not sure if it will fit my fork. Currently, I'm running GP 4000SII in 28c with 18mm internal width rim and it is very tight from the top and the sides. Or maybe you have data from combining these rims with different tires? Any info and pictures will be very helpful.

LightBicycle 2019/04/08

Hi Jan, For RR56C02 30mm wide road disc rim, it is with 23mm inner width. It will be not tight for you to mount continental GP 5000 28C tire at all. For mounting tires on rims, there are some tips. We can send you a video how to mount tires. All our engieeners are thin, not strong. But they mount tires without any tools here. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Will 2019/03/28

Hi there, I'm interested in a set of wheels made with these rims for the following specification: RIMS Disc Gloss 12k No logos 28 H (Front and rear) Asymmetric drilling on rear HUBS Centrelock disc brake DT Swiss 350 OPTION Can the front be build with Shutter Precision SP-PL-7 (Black) front hub, how much extra? SPOKES J bend CX-Ray Brass nipples Black Thanks very much for your time Cheers, Will

LightBicycle 2019/03/29

Hi Will, We can build RR56C02 road gravel wheelset as below for you. --RIMS: RR56C02, 30mm wide, UD, matte, 28H, no brake surface, no decal --HUBS: Front-black Shutter Precision SP-PL-7, 12/100mm, center lock, J-bend Rear-black DT SWISS 350, 12/142mm, Shimano Road 11s, center lock, J-bend --SPOKES: black Sapim CX-Ray, J-bend --NIPPLES: black alloy For rear asymmetrical drilling, do you mean the spoke hole are not on the center line, with 2mm offset? For road wheels, we do not recommend asymmetrical drilling, it will affect the aerodynamics。 Thanks, Lightbicycle

Adrian 2018/10/02

Hi, I really like the depth and weight of these rims, and I fully intend to get a set for my gravel bike. However, for my road bike, I think they'll cause 28mm tires to become too large for my frame so I wanted to ask if you could do these rims with a slightly narrower internal width? Like the 46mm/36mm versions that have the 21mm internal width?

LightBicycle 2018/10/08

Hi Adrian, For RR56C02 gravel rim, we recommend to use 28C~50C tire size. We do not recommend to use 25C. But some customers do use 25C on these rims/wheels. They do not complaint the tire match problem. We think it should be okay for them to use 25C tires. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Adrian 2018/10/08

Thanks for the response. What is the cheapest total cost, including shipping and tax, to the UK for a pair of these rims? I’m a repeat customer (I now 4 sets of your rims at the moment) and you’ve previously been able to offer a loyalty discount. Is there any way to keep the tax and paypal fees etc. to a minimum? Thanks Adrian

LightBicycle 2018/10/09

Hi Adrian, Our quotes are included the PayPal fee now. We will certainly offer a discount for a repeat customer like you. Appreciated for your loyalty. We just sent you this road disc rim/gravel rim cost to your email address. Please check. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Adrian 2019/03/15

Hi I’ve previously bought a set of the RR56C02 rims and I’m very happy with them (as am I with my other 6 sets of Light-Bicycle rims). I’d now like to buy a further set of the RR56C02 rims, for disc-brake, in gloss UD finish. However, I need this set in 24H with a 2-to-1 drilling (I’m using industry nine torch 24h hubs, which have 16 spokes on one side and 8 on the other). Can you quote me your cheapest price (with any loyalty-discount) for a set of 2 rims, shipped to the UK. I’m interested in using the TPD method to avoid unknown import tax. Thanks, Adrian

LightBicycle 2019/03/16

Hi Adrian, 1. Yes, we can manuface RR56C02 road disc rim 2:1 lacing for you. Will you confirm to me whether if the spokes all evenly spaced? If yes, We have two choices for evenly spaced, and they are different in the valve hole position. Pls tell us which spoking way you like. Let me know if you have any other special request for the poke drilling. We sent the spoke lacing pattern for your check through email. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Kari 2019/02/04

Hi! I'm about to order a set of RR56C02 wheels. However when trying to configure with 28H for rearwheel only that seems not to be possible? I'm looking to use either DT 350 or 240 hubs. Which rear hubs are available with 28? Thanks!

LightBicycle 2019/02/05

Hi Kari, Thanks for your inquiry! Yes, we have DT Swiss 240 road disc hubs with front 24H/rear 28H, front 28H/rear 28H. Which do you prefer? The price for wheelset with following specs is USD900/pair -Rims: RR56C02, road disc, UD matte, front 24H/rear 28H, no brake surface -Hubs: black, DT Swiss 240S, front 12*100mm/rear 12*142mm, J-bend, center lock, shimano road 11S, 18T -Spokes: black sapim cx-ray bladed -Nipples: black aluminum The delivery cost is USD78 for one wheelset to Germany by EMS. We have another delivery, it is named TPD delivery. It is tax & VAT included. It is USD155 by TPD delivery, but you will not have to pay tax or VAT. Which do you prefer? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Kai 2018/11/09

Hi there, I am excited to see the dimensions on these new rims, they are some of the very few rim brake rims available that will maintain a proper aero profile with a 28mm tire. I am also very excited to see the reference to the "Grooved brake track", as I have been hoping and waiting that LB would introduce a textured track to improve wet braking, as so far only the "Big (overpriced) Brands" have offered that feature. My question is, do you have any more information and photos of these new brake tracks? The pics above only seem to show the disc brake version of the rim, and I am curious to see what the new braking surfaces look like. Also, can you provide any more info on how you are using graphene? Is it graphene powder added to the liquid resin, or do you have carbon plies that have graphene integrated into them? Is the graphene only used in the brake track, or the whole rim? Since heat related failures have historically been a problem with carbon clinchers it would nice to know more about the improvements you've made and if they have finally put that industry wide problem behind us.

LightBicycle 2018/11/10

Hi Kai, We sent pictures for rims brake with texture to your email address. For graphene material, it is added into the resin and used on the whole rim. Please let us know if there is any other questions. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Evan 2018/11/02

Would the RR56CO2 be suitable for a tandem? Rider weights total about 300 lbs, plus say 35 for the bike and water, etc. We were thinking 36 hole. Eyelets needed? Thanks

LightBicycle 2018/11/03

Hi Evan, Yes, our this road disc rims will work on a tandem bike. We would add more carbon fiber to the rims to reinforce the wheels. But it would require USD20 for each rim, will it be ok with you? What will be the tire width you using? Our recommended tire width for RR56C02 is 28~50c. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Adrian 2018/09/28

Hi, would you consider making this rim in a width that was suitable for 25mm tires? I intend to run them on a frame that has tight tire clearance and given the 23mm internal rim-width i think 28mm tires would balloon up too much. Also, the current 23mm internal width means it wouldn’t be safe to run 25mm tires on these rims. Ideally I’d like this exact rim but with an internal rim-width that was as wide as possible while still being compatible with 25mm tires.

LightBicycle 2018/10/07

Hi Adrian, Sorry for the late reply, we just got back from our national vacation. I will highly recommend our RRU55C02 (25mm wide, 55mm deep). We have improved our disc road rims technology so the disc version could be 20~30g lighter than the old ones. The result of the tech revolution is that RRU55C02 is reaching 490g+/-15 each rim. Still be heavier than RR56C02 you are looking at. Also, the U-shape would be more aero and a better fit for your frame. As for the narrow internal width version for RR56C02, I don't think we would launch anything like that anytime soon. For RR56C02, it is okay to use 28mm tires. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Peter 2018/09/23

Hello, Is this v-profile good in sidewinds? And do you think the deeper model will be before available before end of 2018? Also you FAQ #18 says that you ship from europe so does that mean there is no customs fee (shipping to the Netherlands) above what I see at checkout? Thanks

LightBicycle 2018/09/25

Hi, Peter 1. Usually, we would recommend shallower U-shape rims for sidewind riding. So if you are riding somewhere often windy, especially sidewind. you can check out the RG922 (29mm wide, 28mm deep) RG922: https://www.lightbicycle.com/29er-disc-bike-rims-29mm-wide-28mm-deep-clincher-for-cyclocross-and-gravel-bikes.html If thinner rims also work for you, you should probably consider rims like our RRU25C02 (25mm wide, 25mm deep, U-shape) or RRU35C02 ( (25mm wide, 35mm deep, U-shape). You can learn more details from the links below: RRU25C02: https://www.lightbicycle.com/Carbon-700C-25mm-wide-road-rim-clincher-25mm-deep-U-shape-tubeless-compatible-with-basalt-braking-surface.html RRU35C02: https://www.lightbicycle.com/carbon-700C-25mm-wide-road-rim-clincher-35mm-deep-U-shape-tubeless-compatible-basalt-braking-surface.html 2. We only have few MTB rims stocked in European warehouse, so the RR56C02 is currently not available. If you are worried about the import tax, we do offer a TPD (Tax-Prepaid Delivery) method for shipping. We will discuss more by mail, please check your inbox for our reply e-mail. Note that our quotes only valid for one month. Please contact us to check if the quote still valid or for updated quotes. Thanks Lightbicycle

Is this rim not available at the North American warehouse?

LightBicycle 2018/09/18

Hi, Yes, as you can see, the RR56C02 (30mm wide carbon gravel rim) is currently not available at the North American warehouse online. So you can't find the tab for the North American warehouse. As well as all other carbon rims/wheels in our site. As long as you see the North American tab, it means that you can order it and will be shipped from Canada or USA warehouse. If you are looking for building a complete wheelset, you should also know that we offer different hubs for China warehouse and the NA warehouse. If you want to build with DT Swiss 240S, DT SWISS 350, Hope, Novatec, etc. You should buy from China warehouse. On the other hand, if you like to build your wheelset with Onyx hubs or Industry hubs for the wheelset. You should buy from the North American warehouse. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions. Thanks Lightbicycle
