    OVERVIEW

RIM

Bead type This is a required option.

Rim width (hook): 28mm external/21mm internal
Rim width (hookless): 28mm external/22.5mm internal

Both hook and hookless rims are built using the same dimensions and materials. The max tire pressure for hooked version of the rim is 160psi. The hookless version of the rims features more impact strength and a max tire pressure of 80psi.

The hookless version is designed with low pressure impact resistance in mind. If you are planning to run a tire pressure above 80psi, the hooked version would be a better choice.

Brake System This is a required option.

Road-Rim-High-TG-Surface-Grooved-Graphene-Surface

Non Disc - High TG Surface: Rim Brake 700C road rims use an advanced High TG resin system with a layer of graphene to help dissipate heat. The braking power and reliability is significantly improved over a basalt braking surface.

Non Disc - Grooved Graphene Surface: Our new resin system and construction method, combined with the 3k rim track, withstands over 280°C, dissipates heat, and lowers rim temperatures faster in between braking efforts. Gain confidence-inspiring brake performance on the steepest descents and wettest conditions with our matching brake pads. Also, graphene added to the rim brake track allows for greater resistance to overheating with improved heat dissipation and reduced temperature accumulation during heavy braking. The grooved track helps evacuate trapped moisture between pad and rim in wet conditions, and brings more resistance and force at the lever when conditions are dry.

Disc: The disc version does not have a rim brake track and features a unique disc specific layup process. Our new layup is about 10g ~30g lighter by reducing the unnecessary material and utilizing elements of our Flyweight construction method.

Weave This is a required option.

The layup schedule is predetermined for each model, but you can choose the outer layer.
3k/12k/UD are the 3 choices for cosmetic appearance. The rim strength & weight is virtually identical.
UD Matte is the most popular and has a subtle look.
3k weave has a more traditional carbon fiber look.

Center Channel Hole This is a required option.

WITH HOLES: This is the traditional method. Holes are drilled in the center channel to allow the nipples to easily be fed through the rim. Tubeless tape is required to seal the rim.

WITHOUT HOLES: No holes are drilled in the center channel. Feeding the nipples through the rim is more challenging, but it allows for a tubeless setup without the need for tape. This kind of system is known as "road tubeless" and was made popular by Mavic. Some companies still refer to it as "UST style", however, UST is actually a specific interface between the tire and rim which was developed by a partnership between Mavic, Michelin, and Hutchinson.

Without Holes

Decal This is a required option.

Road rims use super light waterslide decals (glossy black). The decal is very thin and applied under a clearcoat so they are non-removeable.

Valve Stem This is a required option.

We include enough valves to cover your individual rim purchase. We use a lightweight black alloy anodized valves with an oversized concave collar for easy gripping. A rubber o-ring goes in between the rim and the collar to help seal the rim and match the contour of the rim profile. The valve core is removable so you can add sealant without removing your tire.

Tubeless Tape This is a required option.

One 10 yard roll of tape will be included. It is typically covers 2 rims with two laps each or 4 rims with one lap each. The high tensile tubeless tape features a natural rubber adhesive that does not leave a residue on the rims. On mountain bike rims, one layer of 18mm width tape is strong enough to seal the access holes which makes for the lightest tubeless setup.

Featuring a wide 28mm external width, this tubeless ready rim set offers a wide and stable platform for everything from road to gravel tires.

High TG: Our new resin system and construction method, combined with the 3k rim track, withstands over 280°C, dissipates heat, and lowers rim temperatures faster in between braking efforts. Gain confidence-inspiring brake performance on the steepest descents and wettest conditions with our matching brake pads.

Graphene Brake Track : Graphene added to the rim brake track allows for greater resistance to overheating with improved heat dissipation and reduced temperature accumulation during heavy braking. The grooved track helps evacuate trapped moisture between pad and rim in the wet and brings more resistance when conditions are dry so less force at the lever is required. At this stage, with this newest brake track, you could order road Non-disc rims only directly online, however, please contact us at sales@lightbicle.com if you want to order a complete wheelset with that.

AeroTek: Our latest aerodynamic profile decreases lateral wind resistance and is both more stable and faster in a crosswind. A wider profile allows for larger and more efficient tires to be used without an aerodynamic penalty. Traditionally a tire can form a lightbulb shape when mounted on a narrow rim, but the airflow is much smoother with our wider rims.

DuoTek: Our clincher rims are manufactured in two pieces and then joined together. When designing the rims, our engineers, in every detail, demanded fewer joints. Fewer joints mean higher strength and stability.

TuffTek: A high-grade customized epoxy resin is used in our prepreg, creating a stable base for all of our road rims. Epoxy is less brittle than polyester resins and offers excellent flexural strength. Our consistent resin system, coupled with a precise layup schedule, allows for an extremely reliable and durable product.

Tubeless : All of our rims are tubeless compatible with bead seat retention. In most cases a floor pump is all that is needed to seal our rims. The bead shape is tailored to each rim width to achieve the best fit. Our hookless and clincher profiles have a smooth radius to reduce the chance of a pinch flat.

T700: Constructed with premium Toray T700 carbon fiber. The best strength to weight ratio with no expense spared.

For Non-Pro Series Rims: From the date of purchase, 3-year Standard Warranty.

For Pro Series Rims: From the date of purchase, 5-year Pro Warranty as standard and an upgraded optional lifetime Premium Warranty with minimum charge.

Crash Replacement: It is applicable with the same period as the warranty time range that you purchased for the rims with 10% /25% discount for Non-Pro series /Pro series.

David Adams : A few pics of my Salsa Warbird v3 gravel bike. The wheelset is the LB 46mm deep, 29mm wide and 22.5mm internal hookless carbon rim, 24 straight pull Sapim CX-Ray spokes f+r, brass nipples laced to Hope RS4 Hubs. I love these wheels. They make the bike look the biz in my humble opinion. But more importantly the bike rides amazing with these wheels and it just begs to go fast on off-road gravel decents, with nearly 70kph my record so far! I have fitted 40mm Schwalbe G-One Allrounds which measured 42mm at 35psi which were good. The wheels are currently wearing 38mm Paneracer G-King's tanwalls which measure exactly 38mm when you first set them up but eventually puff up to 40.5mm at 35psi! The groupset is Shimano Ultegra R8000 mechanical and has the RX805 rear clutch mech. I wanted proper off-road 2x sub-compact gearing, and a power meter. So my choice was the PraxisWorks Zayante Direct Mount crankset with 4iiii Power Meter and 48-32 Levatime chainrings. As I live in the UK, and although we don't really have big mountains, very little of the UK is flat, especially where I live near the Peak District, and so I need all the help I can get. I have taken advantage of the fact that the latest generation Shimano rear mechs will work with a lot bigger cassettes than they officially recommend and without mech extenders. I fitted an XT M8000 11-40 mtb cassette for excellent climbing capability when I have the bike fully loaded with bikepacking luggage. The chain is a KMC X11 SL Gold chain. For the cockpit I have a Salsa flared carbon Cowbell bar fitted to the brilliant Redshiftsports Shockstem. It gives an extra bit cushion from 20mm of vertical movement! I forgot to mention the Hope RX4 Brake Calipers and Hope rotors which are unbelievable with their wet conditions stopping power! Get these setup correctly and they are awesome and give me more modulation and power from than my Shimano mtb brakes. As I have some extra cushion up front I wanted the same at the rear so another awesome product from Ergon with their CF3 seatpost is fitted which gives up to 30mm fore-aft movement and helps reduce fatigue from vibration. My current saddle is the carbon railed Fabric Scoop shallow pro. I'm still looking for a saddle that is "comfortable" all day after 10hrs! My bottle cages are KingCage/Woolftooth Morsecage Titanium. The headset is a Cane Creek carbon. Peadals are Look S-track with custon titanium spindles with ceramic bearings. All bolts used titianium where possible. Well I think that's most of it so I hope that everyone likes it as much as I do and appreciate me posting the build spec. If you have any questions then fire away. Thanks.

MARCO 2019/10/16

I would like to build a set of AR46 700C in tubeless configuration: 1. Are the rims drilled on both sides of rim? 2. What are the spoke hole dimensions? 3. I plan to use Industry Nine Torch series hubs, 28 hole for both, with Sapim CX-Ray J bend spokes, what spoke and nipple length do I need to purchase? 4. Do I need to use rim tape to seal for tubeless? Thank you.

LightBicycle 2019/10/17

Hi Marco, Thanks for your inquiry! Please check our reply as below. 1. Do you mean the spoke holes with angle drilling left/right? Yes, it is drilled with left or right angle, to make it better for wheel building. 2. For spoke hole dimension, it is 4.5mm for external nipple, and 2.5mm for internal nipples, and 8mm spoke access holes on rim bed. 3. Is it your Industry Nine Torch hubs disc or non disc? 28H for both front and rear? Then we can calculate the spoke length accordingly for you. 4. If you choose with spoke access holes on rim bed, then you will have to use rim tape to ride tubeless. If you choose "no spoke access holes on rim bed:, then you will not have to use rim tape. Which do you prefer for RR46C02 700C bike rims? Thanks, Lightbicycle

MARCO 2019/11/02

My Industry Nine Torch hubs are for rim brakes, 28 holes front and rear. No spoke access holes on rim bed option. I would like to buy the rims, spokes and nipples, valve extenders for correct rim depth from you, what spoke and nipple color options do I have? Please quote. Thank you.

LightBicycle 2019/11/05

Hi Marco, 1. Yes, you can purchase these 28mm wide road rims with rim brake, spokes, and nipples only from us rather than a complete wheelset, considering you already have the hubs in hand. 2. The most popular spokes we offer is the Sapim CX-Ray, and Sapim Polyax alloy nipples to match the spokes. We sent quotation through email to you. Please check. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Mike 2019/05/27

Hi, Will you be making a flyweight version of the RR46C02? One built using BlackTek & ExoTek? Thanks

LightBicycle 2019/05/28

Hi Mike, Currently, we only have two models in the Falcon Pro series road disc rims that apply with our new technologies. WR38 (32mm wide, 38mm deep) & WR50(32mm wide, 50mm deep) Attaching with the rim profile for your ref. You can also check them out at https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-road-bicycle-rims-32mm-wide-38mm-deep-symmetric-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html https://www.lightbicycle.com/700C-road-bicycle-rims-25mm-internal-32mm-external-wide-50mm-deep-symmetric-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html For RR46C02 road bike rims, they are not okay to manufactured in black Tek and Exo Tek right now. The molds are different. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, What color are the graphics on these rims (? Are they black or grey? If grey, is there an option to just have a black Light Bicycle logo near the valve stem opening, and nothing else. Thank you! Sean

LightBicycle 2019/02/22

Hi Sean, Yes, we do have the graphic in black, we sent to your email address. And yes, we can make only the value decal for you as you like. What specs do you like to have of the rim RR46C02? You can order online and mark the decal request on the message box, or I can create an invoice for you instead. Let me know how you would like to proceed. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Chip 2019/01/24

Ideally, I would like the u shaped with a 56 deep rear and 46 deep front. Both at least 28mm external width. Is this possible? I am a heavy rider (96kl) but ride about 6000 km a year.

LightBicycle 2019/01/24

Hi Chip, It is okay to order front RR46C02/rear RR56C02 wheelset. Please find attached rim profile. RR46C02: 28mm wide/46mm deep RR56C02: 30mm wide/56mm deep What hubs and spokes do you like for wheelset? Then we can quote accordingly for you. Is it front 12*100mm/rear 12*142mm road disc? 24H or 28H? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can these be drilled with smaller holes to suit internal spoke nipples?

LightBicycle 2018/12/20

Hi Joshua, Yes, we can make custom rims with internal nipples for you. The drilling hole diameter is 2.5mm. Then the nipples will be hidden inside the rim. Usually, we use 10mm long internal nipples. You can see the wheels built with internal nipples from the attachment. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Stinoo 2018/11/03

Hi, I'm still pondering over these rims. Is there any chance you will come out with a higher version of these? Somewhere in the 50-60mm range would be perfect. Thanks,

LightBicycle 2018/11/03

Hi Stinoo, Actually, we have this version rim in 56mm depth. Please check below information and below link. RR56C02 road disc rim: 30mm wide, 56mm depth https://www.lightbicycle.com/Road-bicycle-rims-30mm-wide-56mm-deep-aero-clincher-road-disc-brake-available.html Do you like rims only or wheelset? We have quite a few hubs option here for you if you like to build wheels. Thanks, Lightbicycle

S

Stinoo 2018/11/03

I'm running 25mm tires, the RR56C02 is getting to wide. Even the RR46C02 is already on the wide side. A 19mm inner x 27 outer would be ideal. I don't like the profile of your U rims as much, not as aero nor as lightweight.

LightBicycle 2018/11/05

Hi Stinoo, Or you can check our U shape RRU45C02 or RRU55C02 road tubeless rim profile as attached. They are 27mm at the widest area. Thanks, Lightbicycle
