I am interested in a wheelset built with DT Swiss 350 boost hubs and Heavy Duty RM29C14 rims. Could you build the rear wheel with DT Swiss Alpine III spokes for extra strength at the flange? I'm a heavier rider and I ride in sharp rocky terrain with step hills.

LightBicycle 2018/04/23

Hi Allen, Currently, we do not have DT Swiss Alpine III spokes here. Is it DT Swiss competition spokes(2.0/1.8/2.0) or sapim cx-ray bladed spokes okay for you? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Miguel 2018/03/07

Hello I would like to reuse some SunRingle Black Flag hubs, 24h. Would a HD back and an AM front support some agressive use from a 110kg heavy rider? What would be the total cost for rims, spokes and manhours for a wheelset? Also, what would be the estimated delivery time? Thank you Best Regards

LightBicycle 2018/03/08

Hi Miguel, Front AM and HD in the back is a very efficient wheelset, but building on your riding style and body weight. you can also consider asymmetrical wheelset. AM928 /EN928 (34mm) is the closest to RM29C14 (38mm wide). You can see the rim profile and comparison chart as the attachment. Which do you prefer? Then we can make a quotation on wheelset accordingly. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Mark 2018/02/25

Hi Looking to get some rim tape before hand and would like to find out what size of rim tape fits this rim of internal of 31.6. Stan's tubeless tape is max at 30mm, would that be good enough or is that too short? Thanks

LightBicycle 2018/02/25

Hi Mark, For rim tape, the width close to rim inner width is good. So, 30mm rim tape width is good for this rim. Currently, the widest rim tape we have here is 25mm. It is also wide enough for RM29C14. Sometimes we use 18mm wide rim tape, and 2 laps to make sure the holes are completely covered. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Ethan 2017/11/30

My current rear wheel is a 29er Roval Traverse, 28 hole, with DT Swiss internals and DT Swiss Revolution spokes. I broke my rim, so I want to replace it with one of yours rims. Will I also need to buy new spokes and nipples? What size and how much will it cost to include those parts with a rim? I will have my local bike shop build the wheel. Thanks.

LightBicycle 2017/11/30

Hi Ethan, Thanks for your inquiry! Do you know your spoke length? Normally, you have to buy new spokes and nipples for different rim design. But we can help to check. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Can you drill these rims to have 27 holes?

LightBicycle 2016/12/05

Hello Evan, Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, we can manufacture the rims in 27H. Are both front and rear in 27H? Also, is it 27H spoke holes laced on rim evenly? If not, please help to show us some pictures of the spoke hole drilling pattern. Then we can manufacture accordingly. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Neils 2016/10/06

what spoke length would i need for dt swiss 240s 32 hole 3 cross

Light-Bicycle 2016/10/08

Hello Neils, Thanks for your inquiry. Do you like to order the rims only and confirm the spokes length to build the wheels by yourself? If so, please let us know the following and we can calculate the spoke length for you. • Hub Hole count • Front and rear axle width • Straight pull or J-bend? 6-Bolt or center lock version? • If you are using nipples with larger heads (double square, Squorx, or hex head for example), then we need to know this as the spokes are 1-2mm longer. Due to the complexity and variations with calculating spoke lengths, we cannot guarantee the spokes will be the perfect length for your wheels. For this reason it is best to source the spokes locally, however we can also sell them if they cannot be purchased locally. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Mic 2016/07/25

How accurate is the ERD for the RM29C14? I will building these to either SRAM 12x148 Boost MTH746 and MTH716 hubs OR to the Hope Pro 4 MTB Rear Hub Boost 148mm x 12mm hubs. Can you recommend spoke lengths for either of these builds so I can get them ordered while waiting on my rims? Do you recommend any particular nipples? Washers needed? Do you have a build guide/ recommended practices for your rims? Thanks!

Light-Bicycle 2016/07/26

Hello Mic, Thanks for your inquiry. The RM29C14 rim ERD is 574mm (not including nipple head dimension). We haven’t built the wheels with Sram hubs. Would you please let us know the hubs’ details as attached picture showed? Then we will check the spokes length accordingly. For rear wheel built with Hope pro4 32H boost hubs, we will use below spokes length. -Lacing pattern: 3 cross -Length: Non-drive side 279mm/ drive side 278mm Normally, we use 14mm nipples. And brass nipple is what we recommend. You can have a try. All our wheels are built without washers. The spoke hole strength is okay for without washers. Below are our wheel building tips. 1. Normally, we use 3 cross lacing pattern for front & rear. 2. The strongest spokes that can be used on our rims are double butted 2/1.8/2mm. Straight gauge 2mm spokes are not allowed to be used on our rims or there is no warranty. 3. The maximum spoke tension of our rim is 180kgf. The recommendation of spoke tension is around 90kgf ~ 130kgf. Please check the wheels after a few days riding and adjust spoke tension if necessary. 4. Never use any sharp objects while mounting tires. Thanks, Light-bicycle

Is adding the HD necessary? What are you calling big riders? I weigh 200lbs. I don't do any downhill riding but would like to hit up some bike parks in crested butte and do Moab riding. Do I need the additional hd?

Light-Bicycle 2016/07/13

Hello Chase, Thanks for your inquiry. The HD version has extra layers for increased stiffness and sidewall reinforcement. Ideal for large and aggressive riders. Rider weight over 180lbs means large riders. If you don’t ride aggressively, then go with the AM version. RM29C14 (38mm width AM): 465 /-15g, $185/pcs Shipping with EMS is $50. All pricing in USD. Thanks, Light-bicycle
