    OVERVIEW

RIM

Bead type This is a required option.

Rim width (hook): 28mm external/21mm internal
Rim width (hookless): 28mm external/22.5mm internal

Both hook and hookless rims are built using the same dimensions and materials. The max tire pressure for hooked version of the rim is 160psi. The hookless version of the rims features more impact strength and a max tire pressure of 80psi.

The hookless version is designed with low pressure impact resistance in mind. If you are planning to run a tire pressure above 80psi, the hooked version would be a better choice.

Weave This is a required option.

The layup schedule is predetermined for each model, but you can choose the outer layer.
3k/12k/UD are the 3 choices for cosmetic appearance. The rim strength & weight is virtually identical.
UD Matte is the most popular and has a subtle look.
3k weave has a more traditional carbon fiber look.

Center Channel Hole This is a required option.

WITH HOLES: This is the traditional method. Holes are drilled in the center channel to allow the nipples to easily be fed through the rim. Tubeless tape is required to seal the rim.

WITHOUT HOLES: No holes are drilled in the center channel. Feeding the nipples through the rim is more challenging, but it allows for a tubeless setup without the need for tape. This kind of system is known as "road tubeless" and was made popular by Mavic. Some companies still refer to it as "UST style", however, UST is actually a specific interface between the tire and rim which was developed by a partnership between Mavic, Michelin, and Hutchinson.

Decal This is a required option.

Road rims use super light waterslide decals (glossy black). The decal is very thin and applied under a clearcoat so they are non-removeable.

Valve Stem This is a required option.

We include enough valves to cover your individual rim purchase. We use a lightweight black alloy anodized valves with an oversized concave collar for easy gripping. A rubber o-ring goes in between the rim and the collar to help seal the rim and match the contour of the rim profile. The valve core is removable so you can add sealant without removing your tire.

Tubeless Tape This is a required option.

One 10 yard roll of tape will be included. It is typically covers 2 rims with two laps each or 4 rims with one lap each. The high tensile tubeless tape features a natural rubber adhesive that does not leave a residue on the rims. On mountain bike rims, one layer of 18mm width tape is strong enough to seal the access holes which makes for the lightest tubeless setup.

Read more for actual road tire width

Featuring a wide 28mm external width, this tubeless-ready rim set offers a wide and stable platform for everything from road to gravel tires.

With the 21mm internal width and 46mm depth, the 46mm disc rims are well suited as an aerodynamic gravel race rim or a deep dish cyclocross wheelset. The width is versatile enough for 25-28c road tires and lightens up your road bike to give you an edge at the next Gran Fondo!

AeroTek: Our latest aerodynamic profile decreases lateral wind resistance and is both more stable and faster in a crosswind. A wider profile allows for larger and more efficient tires to be used without an aerodynamic penalty. Traditionally a tire can form a lightbulb shape when mounted on a narrow rim, but the airflow is much smoother with our wider rims.

DuoTek: Our clincher rims are manufactured in two pieces and then joined together. When designing the rims, our engineers, in every detail, demanded fewer joints. Fewer joints mean higher strength and stability.

TuffTek: A high-grade customized epoxy resin is used in our prepreg, creating a stable base for all of our road rims. Epoxy is less brittle than polyester resins and offers excellent flexural strength. Our consistent resin system, coupled with a precise layup schedule, allows for an extremely reliable and durable product.

Tubeless : All of our rims are tubeless compatible with bead seat retention. In most cases a floor pump is all that is needed to seal our rims. The bead shape is tailored to each rim width to achieve the best fit. Our hookless and clincher profiles have a smooth radius to reduce the chance of a pinch flat.

T700: Constructed with premium Toray T700 carbon fiber. The best strength to weight ratio with no expense spared.

For Non-Pro Series Rims: From the date of purchase, 3-year Standard Warranty.

For Pro Series Rims: From the date of purchase, 5-year Pro Warranty as standard and an upgraded optional lifetime Premium Warranty with minimum charge.

Crash Replacement: It is applicable with the same period as the warranty time range that you purchased for the rims with 10% /25% discount for Non-Pro series /Pro series.

Alex : Just got round to finally reviewing my AR46 disc wheelset with DT 350 hubs. Received the wheels mid-March after some COVID-related misfortunes, and clocked 1500 km so far, running them tubeless with Conti 5kTL 25's. These are gorgeous wheels, really well-made, and the striking 12k satin finish has really grown in me. The wheels are running true out of the box, and however hard I try I couldn't detect any flex (I'm a reasonably powerful 74kg guy who enjoys sprinting off the traffic lights). The aero gains are also noticeable; granted, I run them on a new bike with aggressive geometry, but I can really feel how well they hold speed. My overall setup (new bike, aggressive fit and aero wheels) has given me about 2 kph average speed increase on the same heart rate, alternatively, I can run the same average speed (same course, same fitness level) on 10 bpm less average. Very impressed and very happy with my purchase.

MaxL : The AR46 was a great buy. They came with an impeccable finish and great packaging. The overall experience seemed even superior to commonly mentioned brands. Currently riding with a 38c Panaracer Gravelking for long distances. Set up tubeless, built locally with DT 240s and DT Aerolite spokes. But looking forward to putting on something faster/narrower. Would I buy again? Yes, definitely. The absolute do-it-all wheels for me, that does everything from climbing, 70kph downhills or fast pacing in the flats.

Joe : For my Tarmac build, I went with the LightBicycle AR46 Disc wheelset with DT350 hubs, CX-Ray spokes on the front, and CX-Sprint spokes on the rear. The wheels are absolutely fantastic and perfectly paired with the GP5000TL tires. The tires align well with the wide profile of the rims, making a very aerodynamic combination. The wheels also hold speed very well, and respond quickly under power with the stiffer rear spokes. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a solid set of performance wheels.

David : I just love the look the LB rims give my Salsa Warbird and the wheels were the icing on the cake. They are Lazer sharp at finding a line when I'm riding off-road and my favourite part of my build.

Hi, Would it cost extra for me to just have the Lightbicycle decal around the valve stem in white on top of the clear coat? Thanks.

LightBicycle 2020/05/26

Hi Jua, We can offer the stickers for the valve triangle logo to you for free. Are you also considering order any road bike disc rims 700C? Thanks, Lightbicycle

Hi, I was wondering, whether the AR46 Disc could be finished as the WR50 disc. I really like the look of the WR50 disc but I like the dimensions of the AR46 better than the ones of the WR50

LightBicycle 2020/01/16

Hi Benno, Yes, we can do finish close to what WR50 looks like, note that WR series (WR38/50) came out of the mold as a finished product, no post painting or finishing what so ever. The closest finish is satin, you can see the comparison between UD, matte, and satin from the attachment. We just sent pictures to your email address for these road disc rims pictures. Please check. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Looking on getting these rims to build a set for my gravel bike, I usually run my tires (40C) around 30 PSI, So do you recommend hook-less for this set up, I'll be using I9 28 hole hubs. Also, I would like internal Spoke nipples as well. Do you have any Idea after payment it is done will take for you guys to send them? Thanks,

LightBicycle 2019/09/17

Hi Jeremy, 1. As you run the tire at low pressure (30psi), the AR46 road disc hookless version would be a good fit. 2. We can make the rims with internal nipple use drilling (2.5mm diameter) with no extra charges added. 3. Normally, it would take 12 business day for a rim for manufacturing, another 7~10 days for shipping & delivery. Thanks, Lightbicycle

Sascha 2019/08/12

Hi, For the AR 46 disc wheels, would you recommend the hook or hookless version for tubeless tires? Thanks, Sascha

LightBicycle 2019/08/12

Hi Sascha, For hookless version, it is better to ride less than 60PSI for tire pressure. For hook version, it can hole max 135PSI for tire pressure. How much tire pressure will you ride on AR46 disc wheels 28mm wide? Thanks, Lightbicycle
